It depends. Does Pierce opt out? (unlikely). Does Ray resign for cheap? (unknown). How much gas does KG have left?  How much does Sheed give you in the next two seasons and post seasons?  Can we trade for another top tier player?  Can we attract a top tier or second tier free agent this summer or next summer?  Can Ainge heist another future star in the late first round? Without these answers I don't know if I'd want a Scott Brooks type who is excellent at developing talent or a Larry Brown type who is good with managing egos.

Celticsbloggers :)...but on a serious note, maybe Danny will have to come down out of his GM seat and run this very veteran team himself(temp.).I can't see any coaches who haven't won a title already take over or a coach with no playing/coaching experience at the NBA level.Sorry,i find it hard to believe any coach without some hardware can and will get this sometimes stubborn but great team to buy into any new ideas or direction.

From listening to McHale he doesn't sound interested in coaching a 82games season and being away from his family so much. The job he has now has some breaks in the week whereas as a coach it is every day during the season.

I think Kevin would be a Natural fit here..he does have some experience..Big Al loved him in Minny. He had a hand in sending KG to us, as well.

If Doc stays and Tibs leave, could he come as an assistant?

I have nobody specific in mind.

I would be happy with Thibodeau ... I think he'll make a very good head coach ... although I would lean towards to a veteran coach if the Celtics are going to try and make another run at a title.

Avery Johnson. Paul Silas. JVG. Maybe Del Harris.

Jeff Van Gundy.

Always liked him and think he would do well here.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I really like JVG.

The most intriguing name would be Larry Brown, of course.  However, I'm not sure how the vets would take to him right away.

Can he get out of his contract though?  Also, I am not sure he would really want to...especially since he would not have much control in Boston, and he loves to have control.

Larry Brown.  I believe Doc tried to get him as an assistant.

I want KG to pull a Bill Russell and be a player/coach and make one last push at a championship (Banner 19) next year. Yes, Banner 19.
