So if Perk gets another technical, he is suspended for the next game.  But it's not like he will get tossed immediately.  So, does that mean Perk and the team will have to play the rest of the game with the hovering cloud of their head that Perk will miss the next game?  Also... isn't it true that each technical he gets after his 7th will also result in a 1 game suspension?  Does that mean that if Perk gets two technicals (and tossed) in one of these games, he will miss two games in a row?

I think it's every other technical after that one.

So let's say he gets one tech, he'd need 2 techs to get suspended again. At least that's how I understand it.

if Perk gets 1 more tech hes automatically suspended for the next game but can continue to play the game he is in, unless he gets his 2nd tech in the same game.

After getting his 7th, which will result in an automatic suspension, every other tech he gets will result in a one game suspension, so 9th, 11th, 13th, but ill doubt perk will get any more than 2, he learned his lesson after game 5 in Orlando =P

Yup, it's a suspension for the next game on the 7th, 9th, 11th, etc.

BTW, has anybody else noticed Doc lobbying hard in the press against Perk being called for a double technical?  He's learned a little from Phil Jackson, it seems.

Yep every person in US now knows that if Perk gets another T he's suspended so all the refs have to know.  Smart move.  He's going to have to do something extra nuts to get a T.

Perk really needs grow up in this area.  'Sheed takes a lot of heat for his T's but Perk should as well.  I love his defense but the posturing, pouting and complaining is useless.  He is getting T's from reputation, not a good thing.
Of course this is one reason why Rondo's last T was so shocking/how bad officials were, he usually doesn't say boo.  Or at the least doesn't argue but does the ray allen "see it from my side" discussion.

it's every other tech after that gets him suspended again

HOWEVER, he could hypothetically get 2 T's in one game, get tossed, then be suspended for one game, then pick up just 1 more T and be suspended again.

Let's just hope he can keep his stuff together.
Yup

I hate this technical foul situation and system, it's so unfair, the more you advance in the playoffs, the more you risk a suspension.

Also, it's even more unfair because Perk's 2 T's in game 5 against Orlando should both have been rescinded. Instead, they rescinded only one, putting him (and us) in this dangerous situation while he didn't deserve any of these 2 technicals. Thanks, refs and the NBA frontoffice which refused to admit it screwed up for BOTH T's. ::)

I am just wondering if the Cs could ask the NBA office to pick a game for Perk to sit out in exchange.  I would hate for this to happen on a game six and having Perk sitting for game seven.

It would be the ultimate asterik if the Lakers win in such scenario

Yeah, everybody knows he's 1 away after Game 5.  But what I meant was specifically quotes like this:

Quote
"What's going to happen is there's going to be a double technical that Perk doesn't deserve and we're going to have to deal with it. It's unfair, but that's the way it is," Rivers said.

Doc's basically saying "Hey refs!  You can call a T if Perk's cussing you out, but if you call a double T when Perk inevitably gets tangled up with one of the Laker bigs, it's gonna disproportionately screw us over!  Think twice!"  It's very Phil-esque in its intent.

And I absolutely agree - the double T gets used way too often as a copout call, and it adds up on a physical guy like Perk.  I think either 4 or 5 of Perk's 6 techs have been on double Ts.  Double Ts should count maybe half toward the 7 tech limit, or the tech limit should involve the # gotten in your past 7 games or something.

I'm not condoning this, but if Perk gets a technical during game 6 or a game before an elimination game (meaning that he will have to sit out the next game), it might make sense for him to make sure the rest of his fouls for the rest of the game really really count.

And hey, maybe if he doesn't look at the person he elbows in the face, it won't even be called a foul!

Totally agree.  He was making a point to illustrate what a dumb double Tech could do in this series.

You are right..a lot of others do wayyyy more than perk....they should get treated the same...but it is too late for that now....the refs are keyed up on perk...seems as if they don't like him....alll he can do now is keep it cool....play his game, with no extra stuff.
