Is It Better To Win Game 1 Or Game 2?

What do you think would be better for the Celtics, to win game 1 and make a statement and have the stats in our favor? Or win game 2 and go back to Boston with momentum?

Game 1 because of pressure on LA in game 2.

Both.

I guess if I had to pick one, it would be Game 1, since that can set the tone for the whole series.  So long as we get at least a split, though, I'll be happy.

Game 1 because of the pressure it would put on LA to win game 2. But it would be cool to ruin that "Phil Jackson has never lost after going up 1-0" stat.

I'd take game one. If we lose game 2, then we should by definition have a higher focus in winning game 3.

But, if we win game 2 and lose game 1, I can certainly see the Lakers coming to Boston with a mission to win game 3.

So, I'd take game one, after taking into consideration various types of motivations and possible momentum.

No question, game 1. These 2 teams are so good and so experienced that I don't think momentum is much of a factor. Just win each game as soon as you can, and reap the benefits of the pressure involved.

Game 1, if only because it would be really difficult to win 4 in a row (see Eastern Conference Finals, 2010). Throw a punch in game 1, take a punch in game 2, and then throw out a barrage of haymakers in games 3, 4 and 5 and get the KO.

I actually don't believe the Celtics need to win 4 of the first 5 to win the series - they've proven perfectly capable of going back on the road to win either a game 6 or 7, as needed. BUT, that wouldn't be the preferred way of doing it, I don't think.

Home Court in the finals is HUGE, because of the 2-3-2 schedule (as opposed to the 2-2-1-1-1 schedule).   Kinda feel like if we drop game 1, we are asking Boston to win 4 in a row.   I think games 6 and 7 in LA are the toughest to win.   So yeah... you want game 1 for sure.
