It will be interesting to see if Phil Jackson tries to post up Ron Artest vs Ray Allen when Pierce switches onto Kobe. Generally, it takes them out of their offense and Ron's efficiency down there hasn't been great ... but it is a good matchup for the Lakers to exploit.
Anyway, Doc should force Phil Jackson to make that decision before deciding whether to put Pierce on Kobe is worthwhile or not. My guess is that it will work out fine most of the time.
Even moreso than Vince Carter and the Magic, I will be ecstatic if the Lakers are forced to initiate their offense through Artest, especially on post-ups. Ron is not a quick shot kind of player so he's very easy to double on the shot.
Pierce on Kobe is very appealing to me. Pierce has always frustrated Kobe defensively with his length, width, strength and patience.
The more I consider this series the more optimistic I become. The Celtics have good options for defending each of the Lakers best offensive players (I'm even optimistic on Sheed vs. Gasol given Sheed's increased energy level). Lamar Odom is intimidating on paper, but if he's not hitting his 3s and the C's respect his offensive rebounding as much as Varejao, Haslem and Gortat, I don't anticipate him swinging the series. When he isn't hitting his 3s and dropping in putbacks, he hasn't been any more effective than Sheed or Baby offensively, despite enjoying considerable match-up advantages against most teams.
