Phil, remember your "hitman" JoJo English from your Bull days...sends him in to start a fight with Knicks D.Harper because he was hurting them offensively. It turned into a bench clearing brawl that each player got suspended from the ECSF.Harper was a key player for the knicks at the time whereas JoJo was about as important as Scal is to the Celtics bench.(and i don't hate Scal either).

Guess he didn't see Kobe elbow Artest in the chest in the Lakers Houston playoff series last year.

Guess he didn't see Odom body slam Ray Allen the year before that.

Guess he hasn't really watched Odom or Artest generally, or Kobe at times, play the game of basketball.

Too busy arranging his chess pieces I guess.....

Yep, funny how he implies we're too physical and dirty when his players do this kind of stuff :

Fisher is the dirtiest of all the Lakers, he has this "nice guy" reputation but on the court he is dirty.

I hope he gets burned if he tries to injure Rondo (and he probably will).

Not to mention the Kobe elbow to Artest's throat, or Kobe's repeated kneeing of Battier when he was getting up from the floor in the Rockets series.

Both teams take the occasional cheap shot.  The difference is, the Celtics' dirty play flows from their physical nature, while the Lakers substitute playing dirty for physical.

That's not mind games, it is working the refs...and it is absolutely a great move by Jackson.  He just put the refs on guard, and they may now be looking for KG's physical play in the post, a bit more than they were before.  Point Jackson.

Maybe someone will be nice enough to shove KG in Phil's direction so that KG can give him a forearm shiver and knock him off of that hemroid donut that he sits on during games.

A very very weak point, to the point that it's a lame point, and a such a negative point, so -1 for Jackson. What KG did was an obvious foul and was called as such in the game... so the refs aren't going to be on the lookout for KG's karate chops anymore than they were going to do so initially.

He could have pointed out to other physical plays that would've actually had some sort of impact with the refs, not this one.

I agree that it does not have a huge impact, but ultimately, I think it serves the purpose.  KG's "chops" were a perfect example of a player being overly physical, and breaking the rules in order to intimidate his opponent.  Jackson's argument is that he should not be allowed to break the rules to intimidate his opponent.

Personally, I thought the Karate chops should have been a technical, but that's just me.

Anyways, you can certainly argue that Jackson is conveniently ignoring the fact that his own player is notorious for the same type of thing that he is pointing out KG does...but of course he is not going to point that out, because this is not a question of morals or anything like that, it is a question of trying to get a slight edge in the game.

true but didn't stern come out and say this would no longer be tolerated and that he wished he had come down harder in the past on coaches who adhere to this practice?

Well, I think this is different.  He wasn't complaining about the refs (which is what Stern has a problem with, since it makes the league look bad), he was making a statement of how the players play (as biased as it may be).  So I think he has found a way to get around Stern on that one.

Jackson's reputation and alleged mindgames are overrated... and useless. Can't wait to see him lose his 2nd Finals against the Celtics and 3rd Finals loss overall.
I agree.

Is there any evidence that his "mindgames" have any effect on anything?

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
