Wheelchair is hated in LA.

But very, very few people in LA laugh about wheelchair's stabbing.  This "joke" hasn't gone over well in Laker forums the couple times it's been brought up either.

The rest of the article was funny.

Fair warning, man:  calling Pierce "Wheelchair" will get you banned.

Please just discuss the teams and the matchups without the disparaging nicknames for our players.

I was making fun of the article Ted Green wrote, the wheelchair reference is right there in the quote on the front page guys posted by a Celtic fan.  But because it's a Laker fan, I get a warning?

It's right there on the front page and this thread is "reaction to the article".

This is a funny article as most have pointed out, people are even laughing at Ray's momma.  But I can't laugh about it?

In all my other posts, I have not called him wheelchair, except for this one, where Ted Green specifically mentioned it.

The stabbing is not funny as I pointed out.

You called Pierce "Wheelchair" twice.  That's not going to fly here, sorry.

Our rules are here.  Our rules specific to fans of opposing teams are here.

We're pretty strict about enforcing them, and yes, Lakers fans are given less leeway than Celtics fans.

We're talking about an article by Ted Green and he specifically brought up the wheel chair, it's there quoted on the front page... that's the only reason why I brought it up here.

Celtic fan posts wheelchair, it's all good.  Laker fan brings up wheel chair of the same topic and thread, gets warning.

Very one-sided moderation but I understand your rules towards Laker fans and will abide.  Thank you for allowing me to post here.

If you don't understand the difference between a Celtics fan quoting an article, and a Lakers fan twice calling Pierce by the disparaging nickname "Wheelchair", I'm not sure what to tell you, man.

I've deleted my discussion regarding the wheel chair incident here as well.  I didn't know it was such a sensitive subject and will leave wheel chair discussions to Celtic fans only.

Sorry guys.

Are you really that stubborn?

You aren't discussing the Wheelchair incident. You aren't talking about someone who wrote about the wheelchair. You are SPECIFICALLY using "Wheelchair" in place of Paul Pierce's name.

That's only because it was brought up in the article by Ted Green.  And that's what we are discussing here in this thread.

If you look at my other posts regarding Paul, I always use Paul Pierce and not "Wheelchair".

Like this one, I used Paul Pierce:

If I had used "Wheelchair" outside of this article talking about the Wheelchair incident, I can see why you guys would be upset.

It's a joking article; I figured you guys would understand my reference to the article.  But I see it's a sensitive issue with y'all and won't bring it up again.  I'll leave them wheel chairs to you guys to discuss.

My apologies.

If you had just said Paul Pierce, rather than "Wheelchair" there wouldn't be a problem. We know that Lakers fans don't like Paul Pierce, just like we don't like Kobe. But you didn't. I don't care what the article is about, neither do the moderators.

Would it be okay if Celtics fans came to the Lakers blog, and called Kobe Bryant, "Rapist" or "Adulter"? I think we would get banned as fast as we could say Lakers over there.

Is this guy serious? Bynum4MVP? MVP Of what, the LA Children's Hospital surgery wing? And then you're gonna just complain that you're being treated differently because youre a lakers fan. Man leave that weak (stuff) in socal. Pierce is an MVP, Bynum couldn't hold Pierce's jock. No one feels bad that you can't insult pierce here.

Anyways, theres a place on LAtimes.com where you can write to them. I suggest people write in about Ted Green. He really crossed the line of sports journalism and ought to be sanctioned for it. Just simply classless.

Bynum4MVP -

You are welcome here, Man. But as the Moderators have stated, just don't refer to Paul Pierce as Wheelchair. To us, that constitutes Trolling.

Trust me - I made the mistake on Silver Screen and Roll last year of stating that Gasol was soft, and KG took his lunch, and while I wasn't banned (Thankfully), they certainly did not stand for it over there.

It's all about respect. The next few weeks are Historic - I am certainly looking forward to it. No one else compares to Boston VS LA. But with the amount of talking back and forth between the blogs, we just have to make sure we keep it classy. It's hard, especially with me, but we just have to enjoy this series.

Neither Boston or LA may make it back next year.

Yeah, it's like this:

If I went over there (Silver Screen and Roll) and called Kobe a rapist, how many minutes do you think I'd last? Two?

Like GF1819 said, we don't mind fans of opposing teams being here (personally, I enjoy reading the viewpoint of our "foes"), but this is our house. We (i.e. the mods) make the rules.

Classless.

I actually enjoyed how there wasn't much of a follow-up regarding his comments about what Pierce considers a good time.

It just proves the ignorance.

That's about as dumb as a Celtics fan saying Kobe Bryant rapes women for fun and provides them hush money, except one time it didnt' work and it became a public story.....except none of us are that stupid/ignorant to say something like that.

Pierce was instructed to get into the wheelchair. Sure, he could have said no, but he isn't stupid either, and listened to the medical staff.

He can't even admit he was 100% out of line. This "apology" is a joke.

Quote
That one was something I probably should apologize for. That one was not only too close to the line, but maybe over," Green said. "The truth is I think Paul Pierce is a very, very good player. A Hall of Fame caliber player. I probably shouldn't have gone to the stabbing card.

Maybe there is something wrong with my funny bone!  I really thought he was being facetious, really tongue-firmly-in-cheek humor.  Besides, it really doesn't bother me when enemies talk trash (only  when fans do...and even then, I try to overlook a lot).  I reread the article, and still thought it was funny.  If he IS serious, it is even funnier!

Incidentally, it seems to me that at the time of Paul's incident there were a lot of fans who questioned his judgement on putting himself in that situation...although maybe not to the extent of a Laker fan, nevertheless...a few slams from "fans".

I am a fan of the C's since Havlicek stole the ball. Yes trash talking was a part of the game, but this 2010 finals, some people would have to take things too far. I don't know if its the bitterness but please leave Ray Ray's mom out of this, that is just rude!

Well, when you find yourself idolizing and worshiping a know and admitted rapist, it's easier to sling stones than just cheer your own team.

Ok, so PP maybe a bit overboard with the wheelchair issue, but then again, they are bashing him over some guy who was accused as a rapist?Clearly, people are turning a blind eye on this. I have respect for the "24" guy on the court but this is ridiculous. Its like a one sided debate!
