I think Fischer can do a credible job on Rondo. In the halfcourt.

If Boston rebounds and runs, that's when Rondo's gonna murder him.

Rebounding is gonna be huge.

KOBE will cover Rondo... trust me.

Not the whole series. No chance of that. Rondo - like Kobe - will see multiple defenders.

Why should we trust you? ;)

Odom and Fisher will be the most important players in this series. Somehow, Fisher remains a very good player. I have no idea how. But he hits every big shot. It really p---es me off but we have to respect him. Its not like he's a primary threat or anything but if you leave him open he's just like JJ Redick -- he'll really make you pay. Defensively, though Fisher is pretty bad. Rondo will be able to beat him off the dribble and abuse him in transition but the Lakers will be playing heavy help D to protect Fisher. The Lakers will be focusing on shutting Rondo down this series -- plugging that hole in the dam, as Kenny Smith put it. Its up to our other stars to play well enough to force them to shift their focus from Rondo over to Ray, KG or Paul. If one of them can really kill the Lakers then when they shift their focus Rondo will explode and absolutely destroy. That's the real key to this series -- how well can our other stars play without Rondo creating "gimme" opportunities for them?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

KOBE will cover Rondo... trust me.

We all watched the 2008 finals, too.

Things have changed.

When the question was put to Fisher in the TNT post game chat he had with Ernie&company"who will guard Rondo?"...According to D.Fish, its all about defending the angles(in the paint) of attack...they will have their bigs play the corners where Rondo normally attack. It will be a joint effort.I noticed they did some of that in the OKC series.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
The only way Rondo doesn't abuse LA is if he's injured. Look at the numbers just about every pg they faced in the play-offs torched them. Westbrook 20/6/6, Williams 20/8/8, Nash 17/10 in 33 mins per. The Celtics have the size and experience the Thunder lacked, the health and depth(as of right now) the Jazz were missing, the defense the Suns wish they had. If Rondo can dominate this matchup we should be raising banner 18 in no time.

I think he will be the finals MVP.

Rondo should be able to get very good looks against the Lakers. The question is, will he knock down open shots? The Lakers will do what every team tries to do, make him shoot jumpers. He has been great so far in these Playoffs. I hope he continues to play this well.

I think Rondo going to abuse the Lakers due to their overall matchup problems.

IE - If Kobe sits on Rondo, do the Lakers really trust Fisher on Ray Ray??  I think Fisher plays Rondo, hoping that Bynum will do a number on the Celtics in the paint, using his length to block shots.  In the same sense, Rasheed Wallace I think will be crucial in this series, to "spread" the defense and keep a shot blocker like Bynum out of the paint.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the matchups play out, it'll be like a chess match.

Westbrook was supposed to abuse the Lakers. Lakers won the series.
Williams was supposed to abuse the Lakers. Lakers won the series.
Nash was supposed to abuse the Lakers. Lakers won the series.
Rondo was supposed to abuse the Lakers. Lakers won the series.
Repeat Champs. Old 3 is no more.

Those guys DID abuse the Lakers. The difference was always defense and rebounding. All three of those teams were some combination of undersized, bad rebounders or poor defenders (not to mention Utah was injured).  Rondo is one of the best penetrating point guards in the league, plus his team has the supporting cast to back him up and the defense to shut LA down. Rondo will abuse the Lakers, but LA won't be winning the series.

Lakers won the series.

My English is not very good...but even I know that you should be writing/posting in future tense. Lakers won the series? When? The series starts on Thursday....next week...see you then.

It's called confidence. Hehe.

Good luck everyone. It's going to be a epic series!

theres a difference between confidence, wishful thinking, fantasizing and delusion. 8)

not to me.  ;D

also...someone above mentioned how kobe will cover rondo at times. i agree since rondo will take fisher's lunch, dinner, breakfast, snacks and more. fisher has absolutely no chance of covering rondo effectively.

but, if kobe covers rondo, it falls upon ray allen to abuse fisher. and i am sure ray can do that.

rondo makes a tough match up for the lakers. i dont know if they can handle both rondo and ray.

but then again...i forgot that the lakers could always put vujacic on ray.  ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
