I was not looking at this purely from the Celtics point of view and whether or not they would resign them.  I was thinking more of a league prespective.

Teams don't make decisions based on a piece of one game.

I saw some other threads on Nate but I am curious to hear thoughts on this particular aspect.  In my mind, Nate showed himself to be someone who stayed ready on the bench, not pouting, and performing when he got the chance.  He also played defense, passed very well, and jacked up shots. Really impressive! (+$)

He also pranced around and showboated in the middle of the game (much the same but different than what Howard did a few games ago).  In my mind, this was not the time or the place for any of it.  (-$)

So I loved part of what I saw but there was also a display of serious immaturity or whatever that is what ultimately brings Nate down and as limited his ability to fulfill his full potential thoughout his career.

I expect we will see more of Nate in the finals.  I hope he can keep it going.

Thoughts?

  There was nothing eye-opening about Nate's performance. No GM in the league would have been surprised by what they saw as he's clearly capable of doing that on occasion.

The guy averaged 17.2ppg in one season, so obviously he's not a scrub. Playing for the best defensive team in the NBA, should earn him some point. A team will sign him to fill a Jamal Crawford type of role.

But it's not like this was his first good game. People know that Nate can score in bunches.

There's a LOT more to the pro game than scoring.

I don't think Nate has either increased or decreased his value. After five years the book is pretty much written on you and your value set. Market fluctuations and supply and demand will ultimately cause players salaries to be higher or lower than what his value is at the time of his signing, but his value is set and nothing he did last night or will do in the Finals is going to change that.

He's coming out in a bad year and a good year. Bad in that the market will have a glut of talent that will probably keep a team from overspending for him but also a good year because hopefully the contract he signs will be CBA protected against devaluation and  because of the amount of teams with money to spend someone will spend it on him.

I can definitely see someone giving him a 3 year $9-12 million deal. And I don't think that's going to change based on anything he has done or will do in these playoffs.

I think it's like the commentators during the game were saying, the change for Nate is going to be more for his own benefit.  Playing on a winning team, seeing how guys play defense, etc. might help him develop as a player... I don't think it's going to be a situation like Marbury's, where people know he may still be able to score but nobody wants to take a chance on him because he's too old and too set in his ways.
