the only wide open jump shot I saw him take, he missed.  I'm seeing him taking well contested shots with hands in his face.  He is making them so you can't complain, but they are unquestionably bad shots

I disagree. The two threes he his we not wide open, but jameer was giving him alot of room. I do not blame him for pulling those shots. I have no problem what-so-ever with how he played. He did exactly what we needed him to do

I always thought he'd come through.  While not quite the pure shooter that Eddie was, he does give more all over in terms of ball handling, playmaking, and explosiveness.

Been supporting the little guy for a long time, while others continued to bash him. The feisty guy is talented, and while I'm very thankful for the points he scored tonight, I was far more impressed with his defensive assignments and his ball-handling/passing as a play-maker. He shut Nelson down, fighting around the picks as fast as anyone I've seen for a long time, and sticking to the team plan. Awesome job, Nate ... knew you could do it.

Agreed.  In many ways he's like Rondo-lite out there.  He works his butt off and makes things happen with his energy. 

It seems watching Rondo has rubbed off on him.

Maybe not "bad" shots... Maybe saying "bad" is the wrong word for it.   They were "bad" shots in the same way that the majority of Allen Iverson, Brandon Jennings and Gilbert Arenas shots are bad... except that Nate Robinson is a 5'7 midget who shoots 35%.  I'm not sure how you say those shots came "in the flow of the offense".  Of his own offense?   When he dribbles the ball up the court... doesn't consider passing... and then jacks up a three pointer with 18 seconds left on the shot clock, I consider that a crappy shot.   When he hogs the ball, splits the defenders, creates space by fading left and shooting a fall away sideways shot... I consider that a crappy shot.  He made them and they were HUGE.  Don't get me wrong... his points were HUGE.  But those aren't good shots.  Those are shots that he got buried for in New York.  He finished the game shooting 40% (4-10 FG... 3-8 from three... as predicted he was a no-show in the second half).  His buckets were timely, but there is a reason why he sits on the bench.

Really it's no different than 70% of the three pointers that Sheed takes.  If he clangs it, we all cringe.  If he makes it... "not a bad shot".    Any of those shots that Nate made tonight, if he clangs it... you instantly would say to yourself, "what are you doing Nate... you're the 11th man on our team... don't jack up contested three pointers with 18 seconds left on the clock, you fool".  But he makes em and he's a hero.

When assessing whether or not Nate takes a good shot, it is important to look at the timing rather than the difficulty. Nate can make any shot guarded or open so that never concerns me. It's when he takes shots when they are not in the flow of the offense. In the 1st half Nate was making tough shots but he was hot and so I think letting him chuck is the right decision. Doc did a good job in the second half by taking him out sooner when he saw that Nate had gone cold.

Nate the Great can play 0 more minutes as a Celtic and I'll still feel like he made a significant contribution for us.

Awesome first half by Nate, he swung the balance in our favor when the Magic could still comeback... he was just on fire and playing great D on Jameer!

Kudos to Nate for being able to step up like that with basically no playoffs experience in a pressured game. Hopefully he keeps bringing us that spark of the bench and get a place in the rotation for the Finals, thus allowing Rondo to rest more.

gotta give credit to both doc and nate last night. all along, doc said nate was gonna in the c's a playoff game eventually when called upon. and boy did nate deliver! what a game off the bench at a critical point in the first half after rondo went down.

p.s.- doc must be some kind of prophet because that is 2 years now in a row where he has called that the backup pg that the c's picked up towards the end of the season would have a great  playoff game at some point.
