I hope they dust off this play. Rondo in the post is a mismatch and then Rondo can finish or score from this position.

They tried this a couple times last game.  Once Rajon got around his man Howard either nastily swatted him or made him throw a crazy prayer of a shot up to avoid getting swatted.
Yup

Rondo over Nelson in the post is money.  Can't say much for Rondo over Howard.

I loved this adjustment by Doc.  With Rondo clearly not having his usual explosiveness, and the Magic already playing way off him, to try to force him to shoot, they went to this, in order to force Rondo's man to play him tighter, and get Rondo working in traffic, where he is so effective.  I hope they keep going to this play if they are not getting anything in transition.

Rondo in the post, combined with Sheed behind the 3 point line is money - drawing Howard out.

I don't like Rondo in the post and I don't like Rondo off the ball. At this point who cares if he's hurt, he needs to be initiating the offense with his driving ability and energy like he did at the end of the Cleveland series and the beginning of this one.

But if he can't turn the corner on anyone because, for some reason, he has lost his explosiveness, then having him at the top of the key like that, just gets everyone else standing around, and makes things stagnate.  At least when you get him in the post, it gets some of the Magic defenders out of position, and opens up some passing lanes.

Pierce in the post....has a better shot at getting to the line or drawing fouls on Howard.

Paul has better strength and height to make a play compared to Rondo in the post.

What wastes time is waiting futilely for Ray to get open from failed screens & picks.

That makes Rondo dribble out the shot clock.

I thought I was the only one who liked the adjustment. Doc's creativity is unmatched by any coach.

Agreed, although it is all part of having Rondo initiate the offense at the top of the key like that.  The defense is built to take those kind of passes away, however, when he is in the post, it opens them back up.

Sheed or KG... The point being: Rondo's post attacks are more effective when the floor is spread. Perkins does not spread the floor.

As long as he doesn't turn the ball over stumbling around or something.   ;)

Just messing with you, Paul.  Go get 'em, Captain!
