Well if I'm Howard I'm willing to get a double tec to get rid of Perk. I think he will be even more physical than usual.

Just for clarification he would still need 2 techs for the game on Friday but, if you meant if there is a game 7 then yes that would be a good idea.

Barnes has been baiting KG all series.  Pushed him game 3, taunted him in game 4, elbowed him game 5.  Nothing appears to matter.

Thank you for the clarifacation. I was thinking that they wouldn't mind not having him around for game 7. They might even have someone like Bass goad him.

On the subject of T's can someone please explain why it's a T when someone like Paul fouls Vince (hypothetical) on a drive to the basket by hitting his arm or body in midair and Carter ends up head over heels. But, when Rondo drives the hoop and Howard does the same thing and sends Rondo flying it's not a  techincal foul. It's a lot harder on Rondo due to Howard's additional leverage but yet it's the other play that gets the T. Any ideas?

I am surprised that they rescinded the 2nd one but not the first one. The first one was clear to me that the contact was incidental, and the second one, as cheap as it was, was consistent with other T's that stood.

Agreed - they would have looked better if they rescinded the first.

this is ridiculous - both should be rescinded. perk is on the cusp of a suspension, so every technical counts big time. and it is obvious that both were not technicals, especially the first.

Boy, the more I think about it the more po'd (hope I can at least say that) I get. The charge on PP was huge. The images of Howard shoving Rondo into the basket after his block and coming down hard on Pierce and DDB won't go away. Perk's T's were so over the top it just seems surreal. How can you take away the second when it was in response to the first call.

My thinking about the NBA not rescinding the first T is that they don't want to reverse that T without reversing Gortat's too.  I don't think Gortat deserved a T for hitting the ball out of Perk's hands, but my guess is by the rulebook that's considered unsportsmanlike and T-worthy.  So the NBA doesn't want to publicly overturn the refs when their call is within the rules.  But if they took away our half of a double T and not Orlando's, everybody screams about how biased the decision was.

Maybe putting too much thought in it; I hope it's not this calculated but it wouldn't surprise me if it was.

HERE IS A THOUGHT:

I know this won't happen but the league SHOULD give Perk a break on the 7 tech rule given that they already admitted that at least one of this techs was bogus (even though we know that both were).  I mean, they can't take back the fact that he already missed half a game but they CAN prevent him from getting suspended on #7 (though we know it should be #6).

Of course, this ain't happening but it should.

first off, been reading celticsblog for a while and love it. i dont know why i never really signed up until today to post stuff.

i think perkins is gonna have to do something really really stupid to get a technical foul tomorrow. i think everyone and their momma knows that if he gets one more he'll be suspended. considering the "bogusness" of the calls, i think the refs will call the game with that in mind so as to not screw up this series anymore if that makes any sense.

also, all this hoopla about the perkins/fouls might actually play into the c's hands as the refs might actually let them play a little more physical tomorrow.

However, the NBA also upgraded Paul Pierce's foul on J.J. Redick in the fourth quarter was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 after Pierce shoved Redick chasing a loose ball.

[/quote]

this is BS.  If you are going to let a guy shoot the ball and call it continuation, then you have to let the guy continue to foul him.  Reddick was still trying to throw up the shot as he was falling away, so Pierce was simply "finishing his check" (to use a hockey phrase).

Too many times you see guys get an and 1 when the fould was clearly 2 or 3 steps ago.  If you're going to let him shoot, you gotta put him on his ass.

The irony is that Gortat's take down of Pierce after the whistle blew WAS tech-worthy, but that fact gets lost in the aftermath of accidental elbow and ball slap that followed.  You're not supposed to be able to take guys to the ground after the whistle blows and you aren't involved in the play, but Gortat and Howard especially do this once or twice a game and have yet to suffer any consequences.
Folly. Persist.

Both should have been rescinded. Perk now under big pressure, as one more T and he is gone for a game.

Perk needs to shut his mouth, quit complaining and play.  Let Doc handle the refs. He should know that any complaint from him could warrant a technical foul tomorrow and the Celtics desperately need him.

Here's to hoping the Celtics pull the game out tomorrow night.  I can't stand those Disney loving, bandwagon jumping fans from Orlando.

Couldnt agree with you more.... "Now Perk is under sooooo much pressure because one more technical, blame the NBA blah blah blah...."

You know what, just don't get a technical... Don't be stupid. There should be no pressure on him. Just shut up and play... Like seriously? Dont be a moron... You know you're one tech away from a suspension, you know the refs have a target on your back to give you that suspension, so SHUT UP, play hard, and just dont get a technical... I dont understand.

Heh, well that's certainly good news. During my lunch break @ work I staged an impromptu protest of Kendrick Perkins' 1-game suspension by indulging myself with a tasty, yet healthy meal at the restaurant chain 'Perkins':

^(I even had some chocolate pie dessert, though in order to try and cut calories I refrained from finishing the entire slice of pie)

Random, I know but after reading @ the top of the home-page that Perkins is good to go for Game 6 I felt a certain sense of triumph -- you know, something similar to what one may have felt if say, all of the fouls that Dwight Howard commited against us yesterday were actually accounted for.  ;)
