Now that the CB Historical Draft is nearing it's end, we get to look back and vote on who were the best of the best for that era. Here is the first. If you want to vote for a player not listed, just post their name here.

This one's even more of a landslide than MJ as best player of the era.

Rodman.  Is there any legitimate argument otherwise?

I don't think so.

But I'm sure people can and will and should argue that given the numbers that people like Garnett and Malone and Duncan put up while concentrating on a number of different aspects of the game and not solely on rebounding that that makes them better rebounders. Guys like Rodman and Jayson Williams and Dikembe were unreal rebounders but they concentrated on so little else that they were able to be outstanding rebounders.

But well rounded players like Garnett and Duncan and Malone concentrated on an entire game. If they concentrated on nothing but rebounding and defense, could they have put up bigger numbers than Rodman? I think they could have and then maybe they would have been considered the best rebounder.

Something to think about.

Best Pure Rebounder? Rodman.

Out of those listed, he was the shortest, at 6'6". He definitely had a nose for the ball. My runner up would be Ben Wallace.

The taller guys I give a free pass, based on height, but those two I listed certainly had to have a nose for the ball to do as well as they did.

The Round Mound probably also deserves to be on the poll.  I love watching Charles go up for rebounds, although he wasn't #1.

Yep Charles Barkley was a Great Rebounder, too, at 6'4". I could not for the life of me figure out how he convinced the league that he was 6'6".

He was listed as high as 6'8" at times, which was amusing.  Maybe if he was wearing platforms.

Rodman.

This one might be easier than the Jordan one.

This and the defensive thread is why Rodman was my #3 pick.  Dude was just a monster on the boards and defensively.

So far it's been a Rodman sweep. You gotta wonder how well the worm would rebound if he was on a truly bad team.

with a rebounder that good, could you ever have a truly bad team?
