http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Boston-Celtics-in-trouble-after-Game-5-beatdown-by-Orlando-Magic

FoxSports' Rosen was pretty impressed with the Magic, but unimpressed with another unit on the floor last night:

"From the get-go, it was Orlando that established the type of game that would be played — one in which elbows flashed, bodies collided, and players (mostly those wearing green) were sent crashing to the floor.

And whenever the Celtics tried to counter-attack, one of the three blind mice tooted his tooter and pointed at one of them. Speaking of which, the biggest choke of the game was made by Eddie F. Rush — an old antagonist of mine back when we both were toiling in the CBA. I was a rookie head coach in Savannah and, because Rush lived in Atlanta, he literally worked about 20 of the Savannah Spirits' 28 home games. Familiarity bred both contempt and disrespect, resulting in Rush’s tagging me with 16 technical fouls.

But I deserved every one of them infinitely more than Kendrick Perkins deserved the T that banished him from the game and might well disqualify him from Game 6."

Yeah, it's crazy how bad the officiating was.

I mean, for perspective, my fiancee' doesn't follow basketball; she doesn't even like it.  Last night, she looked at the TV when Rush called the technical, and said "he got ejected for THAT?"

Both Perk techs and the technical on Rondo were all among the worst ten calls I think I've ever seen in that regard.

I NEVER complain about the refs. Last night was ludicrous. Both of Perk's techs and Rondo's tech should be rescinded. The refs on top of the injuries to the Celtics, partly caused by the mayhem of Howard's elbows, have me very depressed this morning. Very depressed.

Anyone else surprised at a T like Rondo's coming from Joey Crawford?

As someone put it today on SportsHub radio, Crawford doesn't simply make bad calls, he makes epic bad calls. It is absolutely amazing to me how a referee like this, who has consistently proven that he's anything but impartial and will make vindictive calls at any  time in any game is allowed to referee games in the playoffs.

I understand seniority and stuff, but if that person wouldn't retire, the NBA should gently hint that it might be time by not giving him assignments in critical games.

My girlfriend started watching basketball since well, 3 weeks ago :D

She described the whole reffing stuff as a big circus, and thought the T that sent him off was bull. Also, she hates Dwight Howard now :)

She just corrected me; she hates the way he plays.

So yeh, there it is :p

Ps.: if there is a God, he has heard and answered my prayers; my girlfriend woke up this morning and the first thing she said was: "Come one, get up! We gotta go see the game!!!"

But it's not like Mr. Crawford has been suspended from reffing in the playoffs before due to his behavior --  ::)

I'm glad at least one national media outlet brings up the ridiculous T's given in last night's game.  Was disappointed (but not surprised) that it wasn't mentioned in the Twitter box on the ESPN website.  Have seen plenty of comments by those guys on the officiating for other games.

While I'll complain about the refs in this game as far as the T's, I'm not going to blame them for the loss.  The refs didn't give up I don't know how many second chance points.  The refs didn't leave Orlando's players WIDE open at the three point line.

You know the fix is in by Mrs. Stern if the officiating crew for Game 6 includes any or all of the following:

Ed Rush;
Joey Crawford;
Bennett Salvatore; and/or
Dick Bavetta.

Although the Magic were the more energetic team until Ed Rush's statement (hey, I can make stuff up and am more important than the players) by ejecting KP, I have not seen worse officiating in my near 48 years on this planet (not even in the WWE, WWF, WWWF, NWA, TNA, etc., etc., etc.).

Man, Mrs. Stern really wants that TV revenue, and to take the Cs down. The foul by the Elbow on Glen Davis (should have been called as a foul, not a T) was the least of the non-calls by these biased refs. The Ts on KP and RR were just ridiculous.

No cussing please, and don't swap the i for an ! or whatever, in that word ;) That's called masked profanity, and we don't allow that here!
Thank you,

Did he get suspended for ejecting Duncan for laughing on the bench, or for not calling a foul on that Brent Barry shot? I forget.

I think it was for challenging Duncan to a fight in the middle of a game.

With his history, it's not like there is a lack of options -- but I think you're right :)

Though if we're talking about officials that are full of themselves, I don't think that even poor old Joey can beat that guy who ejected Carl Crawford the other night.

  • Basketball is Newtonian Physics
Orlando's two C were allowed to be more physical than any other player on the court.  (on both teams)

If you are going to let the big men play, allow the big men from both teams play.

Now for the other down side no one has mentioned.

The Celtics defense is at it's best when it is allowed to be physical.  After last night, the backlash is going to be a really tightly called game.

The only option is to attack the rim early and often.  Get Howard into foul trouble early.  And when he is on the bench, Perk is on the bench.

Amazing - my wife said the same thing.

By the way, Howards flagrant in Game 4 was called after the game.  Does anyone realize that cost the Celts the sweep?  If it was called in the game, that woudl be 2 free throws.

Yea, I was going to say. I didn't watch the game, but 2 freebies for KG might change the score at the end of 48.

And man, I'm so glad I didn't watch the last 2 games, I don't want to.

Does anyone know HOW to bring the attention of the world/media to his? lol, I know I might be pushing it, but I'm sure we can get enough people to get David Stern to respond about the reffing, and the media to futher Stern to admit the errors, and fire some refs?
Anything is possible!!!

Yes, We should've had the sweep! TP!

The worst part of all the "NO Calls' is that Celtics players are getting hurt. How many concussions? How many elbows does Howard get to throw? How many bandages do we have to wear? This is BS!
