Are the Magic any better off for the poor officiating?  They cannot say for sure that they "won" the game, and never will be able to say it.

IMHO the referees have flat out lost control of this game.  Celtics get technicals while Breen says every elbow from Howard was "certainly unintentional."  How many C's need to get injured in this travesty?

I suggest that if the Magic win the NBA needs to rescind the result and let the game be replayed with some referees who will keep composure and control of the game.

nba will not rescind because this is exactly what they wanted. even vinnie, the only person on the planet who feels nba refs do a good job, would have to question tonite's travesty. joey crawford and eddie f rush did the job they were given by stern tonite....as one sided of an officiating job as i have ever seen.

What bothers me the most is they admit they let Howard get away with a flagrant the last game which cost us an extra possession in an OT game. Now if the Perk Ts get rescinded those will be 2 more costly calls.

And now half the team is banged up. I don't know how our guys are feeling but I hope they are angry and come out on Friday hungry for blood. Finish the series and get a week off.  I what will. We proved in the 1st 2 rounds when we execute and  defend we can overcome the bad calls. We can't afford to come out flat because that's how we got in this predicament in the first place. My only worry about one day off is not so much fatigue but the lack of practice time to work on the slippage in the defense.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

If that is the case, then the referees overdid their job.

I wonder if they will levy a flagrant 1 foul on Howard for yet ANOTHER elbow that gave Big Baby a concussion.  If you remember back a couple of years, KG came down on Andrew Bogut when going for a rebound and caught Bogut with an elbow and was suspended for it.   what really bothers me is that Howard is allowed to swing those elbows and come down on people all the time and now he has really injured someone with one.  If the league is at all fair, Howard should be suspended for it.  But he won't be.

Rough night.  I think Baby is banged up precisely because Howard has been given some leeway with his play and he has played recklessly as a result.  Our teams has been taking a beating down low -- esp. Rondo who keeps going into the lane and keeps getting knocked down.  Howard's elbows are just the most obvious result of the playcalling.

I don't wanna hear anyone spouting their don't blame the refs for anything BS. Refs played a huge role in this one.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Of course. Everything that doesn't kill you ... is a good hard playoff foul.

Personally, I have always had these phony attempts of injecting "pseudo-toughness" into the game by not calling obvious fouls. Basketball is a game of skill. If you want to whack people, go join professional boxing and see how long you're going to last. Meh.

I doubt it because he already has 2 flagrant points in this series and the next one gets him suspended. He deserved 2 from the last game because there was foul on Perk that looked more flagrant than the elbow to KG's head bit they only gave him 1.

I just found this on the Magic Board....

This is the worst kind of win I'd have hoped for and will unfortunately be remembered as one of those asteriks games predetermined by NBA, like the 2000 Kings-Lakers. Homerism aside, both T's on Perkins were an utter joke, as well as early ticky tacky fouls on some other Celtics fouls, and frankly, Dwight should have been ejected for either of the elbow follow throughs on Pierce and Davis. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's very clear now that he has definite intent to injure when he comes down. Even when he blocked Rondo, he was looking to hurt him in the follow up, as well as in some other plays. I'm very disappointed in him turning into a dirty player. Someone he respects better talk to him about it and set him straight

I couldn't have said it better myself.

yeah, this is the worst kind of win the magic could want. this game really exposed howard's "dirty" play (which i think is partly just the result of him never getting called for his over-recklessness, which tells him to be more reckless with his elbows), and the refereeing, even without the T's on perk and rondo, was ridiculous and had a huge impact on the game when we were still in it.

Something that I found interesting was that Perkins was only a -2 in his time(16 mins) out there on the court before he was unfairly booted from the game.

TP for sharing. The sad thing is the Magic have picked up their play the last couple of games while we regressed. They could have made it a series on the own but now we'll never know. This turn of events has to leave a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

On the subject of the blocks, I thought if there was contract on the follow through it was supposed to be a foul but I've seen a few of those go uncalled the past 2 series.

OMG I just thought of Tommy. I hope he wasn't watching the game alone at home. He could have had an apoplexy by now.

I'm so glad to see this post from opposing team fans. I've wondered how the fans feels about DH and his intentional elbows and arm tangling. It's dirty play.

Yes, basketball is a game of skill, not a boxing match, and when it's not officated correctly, it's very disturbing to watch. What's more distubring though is that Howard is using his now, finely honed 'skill' at cheating and playing dirty to deliberately try to incapacitate our players. He knows he can't win any other way. It's sick that the NBA is allowing this. It wasn't a fair win and all Orlando fans should be ashamed, not proud.

When the game first started my thought was that the officiating was going in favor of Orlando so they could artificially extend the series for the watching enjoyment of the fans. Problem is it's cheating/not clean/dirty. If I want to watch a fake game, I can watch the fake wrestling (forgot what it's called).
Howard is going to end up paralyzing or killing someone and maybe then he will get a foul called on him.
