Maybe I'm just a homer but isn't this exactly what Rondo is currently doing? There has been no one who possesses the same skill set as Rondo. John Wall to me seems like another version of Derrick Rose. I think this kid is getting way to much hype. Am I alone on this one?

Run of the mill hyperbole.

Bob Cousy revolutionized the point guard position.  So did Magic.  John Wall?  As of right now, he's just another score-first PG who isn't going to be on the same level as guys like CP3 and Deron, in my mind.

I don't watch much college ball and never got to see Wall play, but the way he's being talked up by everyone I'm expecting big things from him.

A better version of Derrick Rose (Wall is a better passer) but yeah I think Wall is getting more acclaim than he deserves at this point in his career.

That said, he is the best point guard prospect I have seen in the last decade ... but he has a lot of development to still go through which is why I think he's getting too much fanfare.

Thats where I'm at too... I haven't seen anything revolutionary out of him at all.

Just to give me an idea, since I'm not familiar with Wall at all, what is the potential for this guy (in terms of averages) when he's at the peak of his prime?

Is he a 20 pt, 8 ast someday kinda player? Better/worse?

Is he a threat to be a great defender?

What can he do that Paul, Williams, Nash or Rondo can't?

If you think he's a score-first PG, you haven't seen John Wall play.

He's basically Rondo with more inches and a better jump shot.  They have personality differences too--Wall's probably more gregarious and less stoic than Rajon, but Rondo's BBIQ is probably higher, though I only say that because Rondo's is off the charts.

This is hyperbole though, because whatever Wall does to the point guard position, Rondo will have already done it by then.  They're both going to be GREAT point guards, better than Rose, Williams and all the other shoot-first point guards in the league.
Folly. Persist.

Well said

As for the title of this thread - John Wall is good and he is pretty traditional in my eyes. If you want to see someone revolutionizing their position please see: Rondo, Rajon

I was curious i still see analysts and experts say rose is better than rondo. I just don't see it I think rose is a gifted athlete and great talent but I don't think he's rondo. He may score better but better at running the team is rondo in my mind. I don't know if it's just hype or people being anti celtic again what are your thoughts here. It almost seems like it won't be long until they say wall is better than Rondo.

He's very talented but from what I've seen of him at Kentucky, I'd question that he'd revolutionize the PG position anymore than what Rondo is doing right now.

He's going to be extremely good but I don't think we're talking revoluntary-type stuff here.

I think for a couple of years at some point in his career John Wall will flat out be the best PG in the game.......the thing is, that might not happen until like 5-7 years from now....before that he might catch Rose, but I doubt he'll catch Paul, Williams or Rondo.....

I doubt he can revolutionize the position.  Only a pass-first PG can do so...and RR and CPaul are already on it.

From what I've seen and hear,  JWall is into AI type of bball, where the individual is more important than the TEAM.

He's more like Rose only not as good of a scorer but, a much better passer from I can tell.

But he's not in Rondo's league in distributing the ball or BBIQ.

So I'm not sure what he's going to revolutionize.

Maybe if they are projecting him as a morph of someone like Rose and Rondo.  Although I'll have to see that before I believe it.

I think he'll be great player though.
