Not to bust anyone's bubble....but when did we clinch our spot in the finals? and when did the lakers? we still have to finish off orlando ( not a guarantee...just look at the other team that shares the garden)...now i'm very confident that we will but i still cant take anything for granted. and the Fakers are now tied 2-2...and while i still think they will pull it out also i think obama's pick and this entire conversation is to early to have....wait until the teams clinch.

The best Celtics news in three days!  From the Chicago Olympics to Martha Coakley, Obama's pick is the kiss of death.  Sorry, Kobe!

With all due respect as a Canadian, shouldn't your president be focusing on things like your economy?
Why, it only takes about three seconds to read what he said off of the teleprompter that is supposedly always in front of him. It's not like it took him a lot of time out of his day to read that.

Yeah (TP) ... while my political leanings are known to most here, (and not exactly pro-Obama), I think it's pretty unreasonable to think that he can't have hobbies and interests and devote a bit of time to them. And while I obviously don't agree with his preference of the Lakers, (ugh!), I actually think it's pretty cool that we have a president who loves basketball, (and other sports), and even plays hoops himself. It certainly will do no harm to professional sports and the NBA to have such a "sports-minded" leader in Casa Blanca.

It would be very cool to play on that white house court. And Obama actually has some game.

He actually picked Syracuse to win the NCAA championship, even worse.

No he didn't.

I guess President Obama is running out of luck this year. He chose correctly LAL and North Carolina to win last season's NBA and NCAA championship, respectively. Since he chose Kansas to win this season, I guess he'll be wrong for the NBA too.

Obama was right when he picked the Tar Heels to win the NCAA bracket two years ago, but that's about it. Makes me wonder if the Washington Wizards will be able to make the playoffs during Obama's presidency if they draft John Wall; I mean they might as well utilize Gilbert Arenas' gigantic contract at some point, right?  ;D

As far as the Lakers beating us - I'm going to take Obama's prediction with a grain of salt. That plus the rumor that Phil Jackson would leave his beloved L.A. to coach LeBron James in Chicago is more than enough to make me pine for the end of the season, where the Celtics are likely to have won it all yet again...

Why?  Isn't the economy bouncing back?  Slowly for sure, but still..

Anyway, I hope this gives our guys extra motivation!

Who care what this tool thinks?  44 weeks and no press conferences, yet he can talk about basketball on national television.  This from the "most transparent administration" promise...  ::)  Pretend this was GWB for a moment and the backlash would incredible...

And the media continues to hype this clown & provide him a free pass...  Oh well, Go Celtics!!

I agree with you 100%.
The media will have a heck of a lot of crow to eat if the finals are Orlando vs. Phoenix.  Don't get me wrong, I don't want that to happen, not one iota, but there are a lot of people in the media, and here on Celticsblog as well, that are putting the cart before the horse: (1) let's finish the ECF and WCF, then (2) let's talk about the finals match-ups.
Celtics fan for life.

In all fairness, Andy, Georgie Boy would've probably picked the Cowboys to win it all. At least now you have a president that can actually think.

If anything I'd say it's more motivation for the Suns and the Magic, that even the President has already counted them out when both series are still going on.

I have no problem with him predicting a winner, I think it's cool that he has extra curricular activities, it's something you can relate to, you know? Should he be focusing on important things? Of course, but you tell me how long it takes to say "Oh I think the Lakers will win...over the Celtics"..I don't think he thought about it all day, day after day lol.
