Hey guys, a long time lurker here and an occasional poster, but plan on becoming more of a mainstay. First off, I am an avid, more like obsessed Celtics fan, I bleed green just like the rest of you. Have season tickets and have been fortunate enough to be with this team in person through their past 4 years. I just had to come out and say that I am not worried at all about last nights loss. Thats for one reason only... this team has an incredible amount of heart.
The fact of the matter is... "WE GOT THIS".
This team is different then 08'.. much different.
They are the old guys who are past their prime, and are running on borrowed time..
They have a coach who is losing his reigns on his team...
They have chemistry issues that effect their cohesiveness on the court...
They have an oversized power forward who dosen't know his role...
They have a point guard who does not understand the concept of "leadership".
You see, this run... this incredible run. This "flipping of the switch" hits a chord with me. It almost makes this team a bit more "special" then 08' because...
They are old guys, with everybody's backs against them... who are hungry. Hungry to add another championship to the "Big 3" era. Hungry to prove all the doubters wrong... Hungry to prove that 1 just simply... is not enough.
They have a coach who is proving once again why he is one of the premier coaches in the NBA. A coach who has propelled his team through adversity and found the willpower within them to take out the hottest team in the league, followed by the best player and team in the east, and soon to be followed by our retribution of the Magic, and then hopefully a championship stand-off against our heated rivals.
They have a team that has fought through chemistry issues not through mere individuals, but by becoming... "One". By playing with a sense of togetherness that has just been a joy to watch. By feeding off the frenzied jungle crowd, by rising up to shut up 18,000 Magic fans not once..but twice... and hopefully 3 is a charm.
They have an oversized power forward who has "found" his role, and that role is an important cog to a championship team. A player who makes up for his lack of height with intensity, passion, and fire. These are intangibles you can't teach. Our baby has them.
They have a point guard who not only understands the concept of leadership, but has transformed into a true leader. The driving force behind this play-off run. A leader who cares more about getting his teammates involved then himself. Although, when he puts the burden on his shoulders... watch out. He is our assasin, and he has that killer instinct.
These are the Boston Celtics. These guys don't care about statistics. They don't about stupid commercial. They don't care what the "media" thinks about them, or opposing fas for that matter. They care about one thing, and one thing only. Bringing the trophy back home to the one place it belongs... Boston. Lets get #18.
Allow me to repeat myself....
"
WE GOT THIS"
