Well I did most of my ritual -- including, like angryguy, annoying my wife.  However, I had been resisting saying out loud  that the Celtics did, in fact, 'turn on a switch' during the playoffs. I gave in and wrote as such in the blog at the end of Game 3. I had previously resisted stating it because I worried that by acknowledging the 'switch' I could create a jinx factor that could ruin everything. I blew it -- and I am at fault for last night.

Sadly, I am not sure how to unjinx this jinx.  If anyone can help me (us), please let me know.

My wife had a letdown feeling like most of us fans last night. Not because we lost however, she doesn't pay attention to basketball and thought they were knocked out of the playoffs. Her sigh of relief turned to depression when I informed her we were up 3-1 and will be playing into June ;D

You have to not only say that they in fact did not flip the switch but you have to believe it. To do this you should write a compelling argument about why it's not true. Listen to Jackie Mac on WEEI. The link was posted on an older thread. If you listen to that you could believe that they didn't flip the switch. If you believe the jinx will be reversed.
DKC:  Rockets

In the 2007-08 season my girlfriend broke up with me and I injured my knee. During the playoffs I was going through physical therapy. My therapist was a Lakers fan.

In 2009-10 my (different) girlfriend broke up with me. I again injured my knee. It is now the playoffs and I am going through physical therapy. My (different) therapist is a Lakers fan.

Boston Celtics 2009-10 NBA champions, seems pretty clear to me.

So no guilt, rather just superstition or odd happenstance.

Couldn't find the link.  Please tell me where to find or give me the essence of Jackie's take.  I need this... We need this.

Maybe we should form a support group.

I did two things wrong. It is my fault.

1.  I picked the Celts to win in 4 games! (a.k.a. The Cousy curse...)

2.  My husband is death on bringing team wins in! He has been watching the Red Sox this season...'nuff said. Usually I won't let him watch to prevent the jinx.  Last night he came home from playing bridge at halftime and I refused to let him watch the game with me, so he turned it on in the bedroom and watched.  The end.  Game lost. (I may put my boot through that tv before the next game!)
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.

That's quite a big coincidence.

I was at the mall and I put 25 cents into one of those gum ball machines. I got two gum balls; purple and yellow.

Then the next day, one of my favorite pieces of Celtics memorabilia fell off the wall. Since then, honestly i've been paranoid that we'd lose to the Lakers in the Finals, and now it actually looks like we're going to make it that far.

So if we were to lose in the Finals, my bad lol

This is a very funny post, TP. Sometimes I have to clean the entire house before a weekend game and be sitting down, with my food, before the tip off, or I feel like I'm going to throw monkey wrench into the Celtics' mojo...

The manic nature of this illness increases at playoff time.

Nah, I'm not superstitious at all. I know that nothing I do has any effect on the game. You should know that too.

Our passion makes us all part of the Celtic cosmos.  We need to go into the next game with a clear conscience, feeling we have done everything in our power to make this victory happen.  The Celts will then feed off our energy and take it from there.
