If you watched game 3 tonight, you know what I'm talking about... I love the chant, and I always wish failure upon the Lakers, but I'm not sure if I'm completely OK with another city using it.

A part of me also wants to see a Celtics/Lakers Finals, just because of those "we want Boston chants."

Personally, I preferred the "Kobe sucks!" chant ... but that's just me. ;)

Well, if we end up playing Phoenix in the finals, be prepared to watch all the Gar Heard shot from deep in the triple OT game of the 1976 series, the only time we played Phoenix in the finals.  If there had been a 3 point line, that shot would have won the game, we will be reminded a million times.

correct me if im wrong, but if you are talking about ownership of the "beat LA" chant ...  I think Philadelphia owns it.  Because they were first.

Actually, Boston fans were the first to use this chant, in the 1982 ECF game 7 vs the Sixers. The Celts were about to lose, and the Sixers were about to play the lakers in the finals. So I think that means we own it...

I heard Tommy Heinsohn talking about this once, saying that people were using that chant at the Boston Garden, (and in Philly), back in the 60's.

People can cheer whatever they want, but I still think we need to stop with the "charge" cheers when on offense. Do the arena people really want to suggest to the refs that there is a charge on the play?

Corny cheer anyway.

Houston used it last year aswell. They even made Tshirts.

But who cares who uses it, it's a tune we can all sing to!  ;D

Actually, that Gar Heard shot would NOT have been a 3 pointer..it was just a the top of the key....maybe the college 3 point line...but I doubt it.

The original "Beat LA" was a demonstration of class by Boston fans. These days, however, it's lost all its meaning and has been reduced to a simple fan chant.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

I am a big fan of the "NO means NO" chant when playing the Lakers.
