I'd add several, actually. 

First, I'd resign Ray.
 
Second, I'd use Tony Allen in a sign and trade deal to acquire a future draft pick (preferably 1st round) or something.  I would do this because 1) I hate Tony the Turnover and 2) because his value will never be higher than what it is right now (like Glen Davis last year).

Third, I'd find a way to acquire Greg Monroe (our center for the future).  Although this will probably require us to part with Perk (and perhaps Glen Davis because of his expiring contract), I'd do that in a New York minute.  Now I know that people will protest because of Perk's defense, but I just feel that, for the future, and as the Big Three get older, it's important that we have 5 offensive options on the floor at all times (plus, Monroe has better size and is a better athlete, so why couldn't he do just as good a defensive job (or better) on Howard and others as Perk?).  I'd also start him at center next year, but that's just me.

Fourth, I'd purchase/acquire as many 1st round picks in this year's draft as possible, and hope that we can get Paul George, Lance Stephenson, and/or maybe Luke Babbitt, you know, a couple of future stars.

Finally, I'd look to plug in the remaining holes with veterans that, for the most part, have yet to taste the champagne.  Personally, I wish that we had kept Stephon Marbury (and no, I didn't forget the vasoline incident) after last year so that we would have had a great backup for both Rondo and Ray (I love his passing and his ability to create for himself as well as others) - I think that going through a full training camp with us would have given us the player that we thought we were getting last year (it's really unfair to expect someone who was off for almost a whole year to come in and pick up right where he left off).  I also know that he said that he will be coming back next year, so I'd sign him for a year or two and play him for 25-27 minutes a night.  Additionally, I'd add Jerry Stackhouse as a backup for Ray and Paul, would at least consider retaining the services of Marquis Daniels (who was great for us before he got hurt), sign Roger Mason jr. and/or Raja Bell for shooting and defensive purposes, look into signing Ben Wallace for more offensive rebounding, and hey, while we're at it, why not somehow acquire Tayshaun Prince so that we'd have someone to guard Odom, Josh Smith, Dirk, Rashard Lewis (despite KG's job on him in this series) etc  .

Yeah, I know I'm crazy.

Starting lineup:

TP.  He's one non-Celtics that I would love to have on the Celtics.

Problem is how difficult it would be to make happen.  He gets $9M in salary next year, so need to send close to that back to Chicago.  Sheed makes $6.2M and BBD $3.3M, so that would work, but that is too much to give up IMHO.  If Chicago was interested in Nate Robinson, the Cs could swing a Sheed + Nate Rob S&T to Chicago for Hinrich.  I'd be all for that, if the Cs could then sign Brad Miller for part of the MLE (to make up for the 3 pt shooting that Sheed brings).

I think this could really depend on the draft and just how much Danny thinks his draft pick is ready to contribute. I know many of you Doc detractors that mistakenly feel that Doc doesn't develop young talent will think this statement stupid, but Big Baby was a rookie that was ready to contribute right away and did.

I think if the Celtics select say Damion James or Quincy Pondexter in the first round and someone like Sherron Collins in the second round, he might feel confident enough in these more mature, more developed, older type college players to try to use his MLE money in positions other than SF and PG as he gives those players the chance fill roles.

For instance, if the C's end up with James or Pondexter, do they really need to spend the MLE on someone like Travis Oulaw. James and Pondexter are similar long SFs that can play the extended 4 position. Collins is a PG with lots of smarts and skills with championship experience that is very similar to Ty Lawson who had a ton of success in a back up role to Chauncey Billups in Denver.

Perhaps, the Celtics instead look to trade Perk or Rasheed and decide to offer the MLE to someone like Brendan Haywood. Now Haywood isn't quite the low post defensive presence of Perk but if he could be locked up for 3 years and $18 million, that could be a lot more palatable a situation to have than having Perk and his demand for a Rondo like contract.

Then if Perk could bring more picks and/or young talent elsewhere to add to the Rondo, Pierce, Allen, Allen, Garnett, Davis, Wallace and draft picks core, the Celtics might just be able to compete for a championship while at the same time building the core for the next championship group.

At this point, I'm very unsure. 

I mean during the regular season we could use another wing man and a backup PG.  But come playoff time, who (who is going to be available for the MLE or less) is going to actually crack this rotation?  And if the free agent/draft pick is just going to help during the regular season, does it really matter? 

I suppose it does for injury risk.  However, I'm not sure anyone we can pick up this summer is going to crack next year's playoff rotation if everyone is healthy.

Exactly.

I don't think you plan to trade Perkins - but you investigate what you can get from a team that wants a defensive-oriented 5 - Miami, Utah, OKC, for example.

You've got a decent draft pick that if you keep it could be turned into a Damion James, a wing who is polished enough to compete right away.

Or, you can package it in any Perkins deal to get younger.

But if you move Perkins, you need someone with a big body like a Haywood or a Brad Miller, in a lesser sense, to come in and play behind your starting 5, who probably is Garnett if you can acquire a Boozer or a Beasley type.

TP.  This is a well thought out post.  It is of course apostasy to talk about trading Perk, but I like your thinking on this one (sign Haywood for the MLE, trade Perk for picks). I just don't think that Haywood will be available for the MLE.  And I'd be shocked if the Mavs don't resign him in any case.

But I agree with you about players like Pondexter.  If Danny drafts one of the seniors who is ready to contribute, there is little need to sign and SF like Travis Outlaw or Mike Miller (just to use two examples of players others have mentioned). I also like Collins.
