Say we win the whole thing and everyone magically DID NOT get older over the off season-who would you add?

I haven't really analyzed it, but I think Mike Miller would be a good fit.

I know he's old, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Grant Hill opt out of his player option (about 3m) to try to actually win a ring.

I would consider a healthy Travis Outlaw

Travis Outlaw sounds good to me.

I would add Travis Outlaw (SF) for the MLE and then sign a Veteran backup Point Guard (Steve Blake, Beno Udrih) to play behind Rondo for the Veteran Minimum. The C's have more than enough talent off the bench at Power Forward, Center (BBD, Wallace and SWilliams). And at Shooting Guard we have (TAllen, MDaniels). And provided we re-sign our Free Agents (RAllen, TAllen and SWilliams) we should be good for several more years of Championship Runs! I would also like to see the C's draft the eventual replacement for Ray Allen this year (Xavier Henry, James Anderson, or BAP) and the Replacement for Wallace with the 2nd Round Pick (Art Parahouski, Jerome Jordan, or ?).

Travis Outlaw doesn't strike me as a player who can be relied upon in the playoffs.

EDIT:  And looking up the numbers, he's made the playoffs once, and shot 31.8% there.

Mike Miller, I like that.  Our frontcourt is already basically solidified.  That leaves us with the need for a second wing because I think Tony has shown that he can be the first wing off the bench.  Our other need is for a backup pg.  I'd say that's what we need to add most.  Luther Head?  Kyle Lowry?  (I like him, but don't know if he'd fit well)  Steve Blake?  Rafer Alston?  I liked Acie Law in college, but think I finally have to give up on my delusions of him being a solid NBA player.

I also really like Rasual Butler and Peja as wings.

Obviously only looking here at guys that could potentially sign for the MLE or less.

With you on that one. I've been saying his name for a long time. He played for Doc so maybe that would help in signing him (not that it did with Grant Hill). He has good size and is a much better ball handler than TA. A nine man rotation with our starting five and Sheed, BBD, Miller, and TA would be extremely devastating. Really like the way Miller and TA compliment each other's game in a shooter/slasher fashion.

Backup big man like Tyrus Thomas or Amir Johnson.

If not, out of perimeter players, maybe Dorell Wright. Not great in any one area but solid at everything. Nice all-round player with a lot of unfulfilled defensive potential.

Dorell Wright is as dumb as a rock. Paul Pierce did the most standard move in his arsenal at the end of game 2 and shook Dorell out of his shoes with a simple head fake, step-back. He's like Tony Allen without the defensive ability.

I think Tyrus Thomas is an interesting idea, though. He's the one "flavor" of big that we lack. We have 2 perimeter, high post guys (KG, Wallace), two scrambling hustlers (Shelden and Baby), and one banger (Perk). Thomas could bring us energy, athleticism, youth, and shot blocking. Great option off the bench. Friends with Glen Davis, for what its worth. Most importantly, I think he has the intensity to buy into our system and play really hard-nosed defense. As a member of the Bulls playing against the Celtics We've only seen his intensity channeled into foolish aggression and technical fouls, but I think with the structure our team provides his energy could be re-directed into something very positive (a la a giant Tony Allen).

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Wright = very good ball-handler + good passer + 39% from three + solid pull up jumper + excellent finisher in transition and good cutter + good-to-very good rebounder + excellent athlete with size/length, quickness and explosiveness + mediocre defender (not a stopper, should not be used against marquee offensive players).

A lot of small positive contributions in multiple areas which allows him to have a pretty big impact overall (for a role player).

I also like the idea of Wright and TA playing together off the bench. Use TA as the backup point guard and let Wright share in some of those ball-handling duties. I think those two would be a nice combination together.

I love the idea of Thomas, but does anyone know what his contract situation is for next season?

I like the idea of Tyrus Thomas long term alongside Perkins.

Post Big three, post KG, rebuilding time Celtics.

I think they would make a nice combination for next 5-8 years. I think Thomas' quickness defensively is a great complement to Perk's muscle. Those two + Rondo would allow the Celtics to maintain a defensive backbone to the team that should allow them to be a top 12 defensive squad for many years to come + a top five or top three defensive team once more defenders are added to the picture.
