With the C's the the brink of beating the magic and by doing so causing major changes to the magics roster i had this trade idea.

Orlando sends

Carter, Gortat, pick #29

to Detriot for

Hamilton and Prince

Orlando changes the team chemistry and brings in 2 proven winners. While Detriot gets a starting center and takes on carter bigger salarie in order to get one less year on hamiltons.
Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

It seems like good trade for Detroit. However for Orlando, it doesn't address their main flaws; a lack of pass-first guard and a traditional PF.

Detroit gets the two best players and Orlando gets stuck with the worst contract.

Maybe three years ago.  I still think Prince is a good/great player, but I think Detroit would have to offer a lot more to pick up Gortat.

Gortat IS a starting center stuck behind Dwight Howard.  I felt it was kind of messed up when the Magic didn't let him sign with the Mavericks.  If Gortat was given 30 minutes as a starter I think he would put up much stronger stats.

I think the mistake was not trading Gortat.

The story around Orlando was/is that the Magic were waiting until the 2010 offseason to trade Gortat.

To wait until his BYC status expired which was making their trade possibilities more complicated + difficult.

Gortat would be a great starting center. No one would Magic give him up for 2 players who are at a cross roads and no better than VC.
