after game 3 vs cleveland, most of us on this forum were ready to break this team up and start over. i remember one comment full of trades that would net the Celts some younger athletic guys "that would probably make us a 40+ win team, but at least entertaining" was the way i think it went.

I stayed away from celticsblog after the game 3 loss and gave everyone a day or two to come back from the ledge. I guess it was the right move.

Yeah I was in the middle of moving and had no regular internet access. They timing worked out for me to avoid Celticsblog as well.

I was trapped in a mother's day weekend at the in laws and got no sports or internet access (Flyers, Sox, Celts all got crushed that night.) So I wasn't crying.

I'm not counting things as over either.

In terms of Barnes. I'd start JJ at SG and play Vince at SF. I think that gives them the best matchup. Use Pietrus off the bench. Barnes' back or the matchup, not sure which is making him a huge liability for Magic.

now, no one can touch us ??  i don't like all this arrogant talk from pierce or anyone else in green. this team has not handled prosperity all that well this season and i still don't completely trust them .......... and orlando can warm up in a hurry. they start bombing some 3's and this series can change quickly.

i, like most of you, feel a whole lot better about things than i did 10 days ago - but let's stay humble and focused for the time being.

i want #18 real bad and i don't want any mental lapses to break this team's defensive momentum.

I'm convinced that the Celtics players are remaining focused. I'm just a fan. I'm gonna beat my chest brashly and holler for banner 18.

(And by the way I wasn't down after game 3. I said time and time again that superstars sometimes have amazing games. It happens, and you move on.)

My confidence in this team is at an all time high - starting with those 3 straight wins against Cleveland.

one thing about that game 3 vs cleveland when lebron came out with those lazer guided jumpers that were barely moving the net ....... not sure if it was a tv commentator or a poster on this forum, but someone made the comment that those jump shots he was raining down on our heads would balance out eventually and result in some misses later in the series.

that may have been the understatement of the playoffs - lebron came way back down to earth in game 5 back in cleveland when his hand turned cold and some of his perimeter jumpers actually skidded off the side of the rim.

that's karma, kramer.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

This is funny, Matt Barnes.

My thing is this: If Paul Pierce could survive Lebron, then Matt Barnes, even though he is talented, is no comparison.

What Paul should do, though, is watch out for more cheap shots from ORL. Sadly enough, if Dwight can do it, then it may be a cause for concern.

I'd hope that on Saturday, the refs call this thing very close, at least for the first few qtrs. As long as they call it close both ways, IMO, then we can still win this.

Some of us never gave up on this team, never wanted to trade everyone away, and never turned the tv off just because things weren't going our way.
So I don't need anyone to bring me back down to earth or tell me I'm being over confident just because I think these guys have an excellent chance to be the finals.
I'm also tired of hearing the haters say Pierce said anything arrogant, because he didn't.  Unless you think talking to Celtics fans about them making sure they didn't allow the team to get complacent is arrogant, in which case you may need a dictionary.

Well, Barnes has one thing in common with the Lakers:
Want's what he can't handle
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Good idea to [pee] off the most [peeved] off team in the league

These guys are definetly playing p---ed off.  They look downright angry out there.  This is absolutely a good thing.

I'm still a little leery of a letdown, but believe their brooding manner will keep them motivated.

Yeah, I went to game 3 and have never been so down on the C's.  Couldn't come on here for a day myself.  Hopefully these guys have learned their lesson from this game.

I think the reason a lot of us wanted Matt Barnes (myself included) was because he is somewhat fearless like this.  He wants the challenge.

That said, he's gonna get schooled by Pierce if he does try to guard him.

Infinite respect for this though:

I don't know where the infinite respect comes from.  Sure we all hate Kobe.  He's a Laker.  But from watching that video, the guy that looked worse in that whole situation was Barnes, when he tried to childishly fake the pass to Kobe's face, and Kobe didn't even flinch.  It made Barnes look like a fool.
