Yeah yeah, Dwight is a "monster," but IMO, as a fan of TEAM basketball, I actually think that Gortat would give them a better chance of winning than Howard against us.  I really like this guy's game and almost feel bad for him that he will languish on the bench for the next few years behind Howard.  He is a beast and seems to have a huge BBIQ.

Who else thinks this guy is a starter on almost any other team in the NBA?

How on earth is Dwight Howard not a team player????

He gets all of his offensive touches within the flow of their offense, in fact, i dont think they do enough to get him the ball.

With the perimeter threats they have on this team, there is no reason that he shouldnt be able to get alot of passes in good, deep position through motion basketball.

I thought in Game 2 they did a better job moving in their offensive sets, which helped him get great position against our bigs.

Whilst Gortat is no slouch (yes i think he could definately get a starting gig somewhere in the league - could have perhaps had the Dallas starting job had he taken their offer), i dont think his offensive abilities far exceed Howards enough to offset what Dwight brings to them defensively.

No.

Howard had a big game.  The Celtics have issues defending him when they put him in motion on offense (pick and rolls).

As long as they don't post him up all the time, he helps the team.

Better question, if the starting F keep playing that way, how long till the replace them with Gortat and Reddick (with Carter sliding over)

If I was the Magic, I might try playing Gortat at PF in place of Lewis, at least for a few minutes to see how it goes.  He can't shoot the 3, but he can shoot a jumpshot and defend.

Plus, control the boards, control tempo.

I do agree that the Magic stand a better chance to win with Gortat in the game, but I don't think he should be taking Howard's minutes.

The Howard / Gortat combo should have been countered by Doc with Rasheed b/c Rasheed can spread the floor and get defensive rebounds, but for some reason he chose Davis.  While Davis had some great plays in the second half, Gortat abused Davis on the offensive boards b/c of his height and length.  The perfect example was that sequence where the Magic got about 4 straight offensive boards, compliments of Gortat being taller than any Celtic on the floor.  Hopefully Davis, and Rasheed, do a better job of putting a body on him.

Again, Gortat should get more minutes, but over Rashard and not Howard.

That too.  I hope it doesn't happen though. ;D

I dont know if Rashard is the problem. IMO, they need to get him involved in the pick n roll/pop more with Nelson.

At this stage of his career, i dont think Gortat is a good option for too many minutes (20+).

I think defensively he hurts the team with his tendancy to get into foul trouble.  He isnt a great help defender, or weakside shot blocker.

You give Gortat 20 solid minutes, and i have no doubt he fouls out 8/10 times.

Lack of respect from the refs also hurts him.

Considering he isn't making shots, his defense hasn't been that good and he isn't a rebounder....

His play (along with Barnes) is an issue for the Magic.

Did you notice that immediately after DH went to the bench with foul trouble in the 2nd half we started getting layups? Hmmm.

It gave Rondo an open door.

Lewis hasn't been contributing anything and Gortat has been rebounding as much in significantly less time.  If Lewis struggles in game 3, Duhwhite Howard should get more time.

16 shots total in games 1 & 2.  Over half of those attempts have been 3 pointers.

SVG and his coaching staff must do a better job of getting Lewis involved in the offense.

Their offense has looked inept due to their muddled offensive schemes.
