When it's all said an done and Rondo has his Finals MVP award and 2 rings at the ripe old age of 24, Paul and Williams can point to all the abstract measuring sticks they want, Rondo....yeah, he'll point to the hardware to show who the real best PG in the NBA is.

Certainly a finals MVP trophy would help his case. Although, man, I'd love to see KG win a finals MVP. More interested in his legacy now, than Rondo's - and he's playing catch up from all those years in Minnesota (when he was, you know, not any good, because he didn't win any titles).

I don't agree with the main sentiment of the thread. Chris Paul has the title in my eyes. And Tony Parker's MVP trophy isn't winning many arguments in his favor. ;)

I love Rondo, and I might not even trade him for any PG in the league, but I will say one thing. If Chris Paul played for the Celtics two years ago and Rondo was playing for New Orleans, Paul would be the one with a ring.

That's not a knock on Rondo at all, but it's pretty hard to say that Chris Paul or Deron Williams wouldn't have a ring by now in his place. Everyone suddenly forgets about Paul after 1 injury, and because he can't take David West to the finals.

But hey, like I said, I'm ecstatic that Rondo is in the conversation, and he is a very unique talent.

It's easy to say that if someone else had been point guard in 2008, they would have the ring instead, but the fact is there's no way to prove such a thing, and I'll take the guy that's been there before, over the guy that hasn't.

Rondo has proven that he can handle the pressure of the biggest games and come away a winner, and did so in his first year as a starting PG ... that's something that has rarely been done in the history of the NBA.

I'll also say emphatically that Rondo is a more complete player than any other point guard in the league, and can do things with passing and handling the ball that I've never seen anyone else do.

Personally, I'm quite happy that he's our PG and not somebody else ... and it's just going to get better and better with this kid. ;)

Yeah, it was definitely a travel, which is why it was ironic that people kept eating it up after it was shown a million times.  But if LeBron and Wade can get away with taking 3 or 4 steps on their signature drives, why not Rondo?

I almost have to recuse myself here, since I've been a huge fan of Rondo since his rookie year. IMO, he's obviously in the top three and I wouldn't trade him for any other pg.

To me, he's the most enjoyable Boston athlete to watch since Pedro Martinez.  He's a Winner, he almost always outplays any other pg, he has no fear of his opponents, and he can do things that no one else does. And with flair and artistry. Like Pedro, he's a cold-blooded assasin out there.

I don't know who else would have made that play last night where he grabbed a rebound(or may have been a bad pass, don't remember now) while falling out of bounds, turned around in midair and whipped the ball of a Magic player and out of bounds. Just an amazing play that doesn't show in the stats.

So, you can have a "surefire hall-of-famer" like AI(no, not Iggy) with his stats, or Nash with his bad defense, give me a true pg who plays both ways and makes his teammates better(Big Baby and TA, for example). AND, when all else fails and the game is on the line, Rondo can take over and score if that's what's needed.

Period ;D

Who the best point guards are is all debatable. But what is undeniable is which team has the best value with their point guard. Rondo at 11 million for the next 5 years is an absolute knockout.
