There just simply isn't a doubt anymore. When the lights go up, this kid shows up. Better defender. Better shooter. Unbelievable vision. Impossible to keep out of the lane. Changes games with his pace. Makes teammates better.

There is nobody better in the NBA right now...nobody.

We're all happy for the win but this is waaay over the top.

Might be a different story by the end of next year.

I really don't think I am being "waaay over the top". This kid gets it done at the PG position right now better than anyone. He outplays the better PGs in this league and in the playoffs he's even better than in the regular season.

Believe me I'm surpsied I'm going here. I still remember wanting Marcus Williams from UConn instead of him. I said he had negative range and he would never be a legit PG in this league. Clearly I was wrong and I'm glad. But I'd like someone to tell me why Rondo isn't the best at running a team in the NBA.
It would be nice to see him play a Deron of CP3 in this kind of pressure situation. I'm not ready to say he's the best PG in the league. I am prepared to say however he is the best performing player in the playoffs however.

Rajon has been great, but Deron had a pretty nice playoff run himself (24.3 points and 10.3 assists per game with a .517 eFG%).

Deron's good but it's not just about stats with this kid. It's about impact. It's about the pace he creates. It's about the big performances in the biggest stages. It's his impact on the defensive end and the pressure he puts on opposing guards. This kid flat out makes plays all over the court. You simply cannot take your eyes off of him. I don't think I've gone off the deep end. Those other PGs don't get it done like Rondo. That's why they're at home watching.

Chris Paul is overrated... Rondo is number 3 behind Deron Williams and Steve Nash respectively.

If Rondo keeps playing at this level, he is on the same tier as Deron Williams and Chris Paul.

For the regular season, Its always goin to be Deron, CP3 and Nash.

Rondo is in the same tier group as Westbrook, Rose, Billups and Kidd...But Man in the Playoffs and I would definitely say in the last 3 yrs. Rondo is by far the most incredible PG that there is no other one that comes close exept perhaps Deron but Williams has never gotten over Kobe and Nash wasn't even in the playoffs last yr. so Rondo has by far produced more wins than anyother PG in the NBA Playoffs that it is easy now to state that had KG been healthy last yr, Boston would have repeated.

This year, they are on a mission and the good thing about this team is that they have stepped it up on an entirely different level that perhaps only Kobe and the Fakers can match so yeah, This playoffs deserve a Celtic/Laker FINALS.

I don't think Chris Paul is over-rated. His injury has taken him out of the lime light. But he is an incredible point guard.  I think he, Rondo and D Williams are the best two way, and Nash is the best offensive facilitator.  All four are incredible. We are in the golden age of point guards. It is the best thing about the NBA right now. Rondo is just a joy to watch. He is so gifted and competitive.

Well, he's getting there....he seems to have raised his game several levels in the post-season.

He has picked the Post Season to break out.

The thing with Rondo as far as comparisons go - he doesn't have to dominate the ball here in Boston like Deron, Chris or Steve does - those three I just named Must score a lot of points in order for their teams to have a chance.

Not Rondo. He is putting up the numbers like this with Three Future HOFers.

I think the gap is closing. I really do.

Deron Williams ate Rondo alive the last time they played each other.

Also, not that it needs to be noted, but, Williams and Paul are not at home watching because they don't get it done like Rondo. You're not helping your case with that kind of thing.

if he develops a consistent jump shot, he will be. as it stands, he's easily in the top 5.

Yeah sure whatever you say champ. It's always about head to head numbers. "Not that it needs to be noted" but Rondo is responsible for so much that doesn't always show up in the box. This kid is the engine for this team and he is just impossible to stop.

Oh and "You're not helping your case with that kind of thing" either. See I can make generic statements too. Yay me.

Little of both poking fun being sarcastic, but in all seriousness the sky is the limit with Rondo he can go down as one of the greats when all is said and done.

Let me be more specific. If you think that Williams and Paul are not playing right now because, as you said, "they don't get it done like Rondo", then you're wrong. Even a cursory look at the rosters of those two teams  makes it clear how wrong you are. Put Rondo on that Hornets team in the west, instead of Paul, and they don't make the playoffs. Put Paul here, and they're still playing.

I don't really trust you want to be intellectually honest here but if you do, you'll of course concede how much Paul and Williams bring to the table that, like Rondo, also doesn't register in the box score.

In the end FG, my comments here are not even meant as a slight on CP3 or Williams. Both are exceptional PGs that are unbelievably instrumental in their teams success. Both are All-Stars and have been doing it for a few years now. Tremendous PGs. Again, those guys aren't really lacking. Right now I just rate Rondo's ability to impact a game in so many ways just a nudge better than them. And this is based moreso on the natural progression that continues to make MAJOR improvements over the course of ever season he's been in the league to where is right at this point. I feel like Rondo walks into the 2010-2011 season THE premier PG in the NBA.

When it's all said an done and Rondo has his Finals MVP award and 2 rings at the ripe old age of 24, Paul and Williams can point to all the abstract measuring sticks they want, Rondo....yeah, he'll point to the hardware to show who the real best PG in the NBA is.
