Boy I wish we still had Eddie around.  While I think that Robinson is more talented all-around, Eddie was a specialist.  People say to play in the NBA you have to do a lot of things really well, or at the very least, do one thing really, really well: shoot, rebound, play defense, lead a team.

Eddie was one of those guys.  Nate is a good player, but even harder to hide on defense.  Eddie got his hands on a lot of loose balls and passes.  And he could turn a small lead into a blowout in 40 seconds.  Or make a 16 point deficit a 9 point game in the same time.

Sure do miss him.  I think Danny messed up with this one.  But hopefully Nate can come around next year, or be used in another deal to help us down the road.  I still think he has potential and/or value.

I've been thinkin about this the whole playoffs.  I think trading him away was an overreaction.  They need that spot up shooter playing with the bench and I think they tried to rectify their error with Finley but it hasn't worked.  But beyond basketball I just wish Eddie was here.  He was such a big part of this team's identity and gave us so much he deserves do be here for this run.

Yeah I got all verklempt when I saw the 2008 NBA Champion C's team picture earlier today.  I would bring him back in an instant to fill out next years roster.  I believe he got hurt towards the end of the season so it appears the trade was more of a lose/lose.

Disagree.  He'd definitely be coming in at the end of quarters and for some change-of-pace scenarios.  Robinson has just been so ineffective that he hasn't played really at all, which has helped get Tony some run.

I appreciate what Eddie did for the Cs, having said that, TAllen wouldn't be playing the minutes his is playing with Eddie in town.

Other way around.

Tony has played so well we haven't needed Nate, and we wouldn't need house either.

Nate HAS come in end of quarters by the way. Either way, neither House nor Nate would have much effect on the playoffs considering Rondo is on the court handling the ball for 42 plus minutes a game.

Robinson and House are equally pitiful on defense. I don't think House would be playing right now. House's already poor defense had fallen off even further, imo. And his offense had slipped as well. His days as an effective player might be over. He's a 5'11" sg with limited athleticism to begin with.

The way House was shooting, I was kinda glad we traded him (I also thought Nate would be a little more consistent).  But if his shot started falling like Ray's did after the deadline, our Eddie/Tony combo would be unstoppable.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Yeah, we probably would have put Eddie on Wade and been *thrilled* with the results.

I think Finley is filling House's roll - shooter at the wing off the bench. Finley hasn't been fantastic, but Eddie declined too this season. At least with Finley you get decent size, and some other offensive skills.

I miss him, too.  I don't think not having Eddie will make a huge difference one way or the other, but I'd rather that he was here than Nate.

Agreed -- House's decline defensively made him a comparable defender to Nate Robinson ... and Nate is a better offensive player.

Nate Robinson has also shot the ball better from the perimeter in both NY (37.5%) or Boston (41%) than House did in NY (25%) or Boston (38%) ... so this shooting specialty argument doesn't hold much weight either.

Nate Robinson is the better player and I would rather have him on the bench than Eddie House.

Love eddie and what he brought.  His weak spots are brighter now and his effectiveness down this year.  He did not look good at all with ny.  Tony Allen  ??? , I have to say this again Tony Allen has made house, daniels and robinson not needed.  Tony has given us the sg big pg defender that we have been lacking.  Ray has been doing a great job on defense but then tony coming in with rondo makes a scary defensive backcourt.  I'm happy to have Finley to spread the floor near the end of our bench as he is a sf and can help us in other ways.  Eddie would be a backup sg only his ball handling is that weak.  Which means a sg who can shoot but can't handle the ball, doesn't create his own offense, will hustle on defense but not that good etc

I would love to see Eddie on the sidelines cheering but he lost his fire for the regular season (as did much of the team).  The fire and energy that Eddie brought to the game were what made him effective because he played off of emotion. When he wasn't playing with energy he might as well have been a freckle on Scalabrine.

Speaking of Scalabrine, I wish he was here too so that he could play some minutes when we need someone to spread the floor....oh wait I forgot he wasn't traded.
