Steve Nash, is there anything you're not awesome at??

With his scholarship in hand and a provincial basketball title in his pocket even Hyde-Lay - also the rugby coach - expected Nash would spend the rest of the school year getting ready for his new basketball challenge. Instead Nash suited up for the school's rugby team, playing the sport for the first time.

"I asked him if he was sure he wanted to do that," Hyde-Lay recalled. "And he said there were a lot of guys on the basketball team for whom rugby was their first sport and they kept their commitments and made sacrifices and helped him reach his goals, so he was going to play rugby to help them reach theirs. That was very telling to me."

Nash led SMU to a provincial rugby championship as well, distinguishing himself not only by making goal kicks both right-footed and left, but also by proving his concept of team extended beyond what others could do to help him achieve his goals.

And he plays rugby, a contact sport, with no pads, where when someone hits the ground and a ruck forms over them, they are CONSIDERED PART OF THE GROUND. Do you know how six 7/10 inch metal studs feel when applied to your back by the foot of a 300 lbs man feels? It is unpleasant. Props to steve nash.

  • Rondo = Good
Other than Rondo, he's my favorite PG in the league.  Easily.

apparently he's not great at winning game 1's in LA. But beyond that's he's great at everything.

It would be good to see Rugby garner a bigger profile in Canada and the U.S., there's endless potential for both countries to be successful in the game.

It really is a fantastic game to play and on the grow in many regions.

As for Nash, he's great! Let's just see a better performance in LA game 2.

I played rugby in high school for all my four years, that sport is no joke.  I had 3 concussions in four years and decided enough was enough.  Never played it since.

But I've never had a rush playing any sport as much as playing rugby. (basketball is a second)

Oh, and somehow this story doesn't surprise me.  Steve Nash is just the man.  Absolutely ideal type of guy to have leading your organization.

I will bet dollars to dimes you're from new england or canada. Those are the only places I know of that have widespread rugby in hikeschool

I'm from a part of NY that has a few sprinkled, but its pretty sparsed.

Absolutely correct IP.  Brookline, Ma, right outside of Boston.  Our team won the New England Championships 2 out of the 4 years I was there.  We were really good and it was really fun.  I miss it but I know I couldn't go back and play anymore.

TP for guessing right btw.
