This is a team that i love watching during their magical Baron Davis, Captain Jack season. I love Monta Ellis as a player and i think that Stephen is gonna be more than just a sniper in this league. That being said, I'd like to discuss what this team needs to accomplish in order to get back in the playoff hunt.

This is the breakdown for next seasons roster:

PG Monta, Curry
SG Azubuike, Morrow
SF Maggette,
PF Turiaf, Randolph, Wright, Radmonovic
  C Biedrins,

with salaries equaling around 53 million dollars.

What i think they need is a defensive minded wing who can match up with the other teams best scorer. Don Nelson LOVES Marquis Daniels from when he drafted him in Dallas and I'm 100% sure that his phone will be ringing the day after we win the championship.



IMO their second biggest hole is a strong defensive/rebounding center to play off the bench behind Biedrins. IMO Marcus Camby could be a perfect fit because his defense, rebounding, and slender form would allow him to perform better in the offense than some of the larger UFA's. But i don't think Marcus will be open to wasting of his very valuable time out in Golden State.



David Lee could be another option to play as an undersized Center... i mean he has been doing that his whole career in NY.

Good analysis.  I also really loved that Captain Jack/Baron Davis led squad.  They were really fun and I was sad that they didn't get more than one season to keep it going.

Just one thing, I think Marcus signed an extension this post season to stay on with Portland for a few more years...so I don't think he's really an option.

That's a very good move for Portland, and that's what i actually expected. 55 year old Marcus Camby looks younger and IS healthier than their 15 year old Greg Oden.

Biedrins being healthy this year will surely help. So will the addition of a high lottery pick. I think Udoh would be a solid pick if they don't pick that high. If they get the first or second pick Wall or Turner could help.

I wouldn't get Wall if I already had Curry and Ellis. Favors could be the long athletic center/power forward they've been looking for.

The Warriors need to hope they get Aminu, Favors, Cousins, or Johnson in the draft.

They are probably stuck with Monta Ellis, but I don't think they're gonna have much success with him on the team.  He's a ball hog and they're better without him.

Stephen Curry is a very good player, Maggette is really efficient and actually worth the money, Anthony Randolph needs to play 25+ minutes a game so he can develop.  Biedrins needs to be healthy.  Brendan Wright needs to stay healthy and play minutes so he can develop too.

That's an example of the kind of lineup they could have if they get lucky in the draft.  Would be an exciting team, but they wouldn't be much good for a couple years.  I think they should try to trade Maggette to get some draft picks and cap space down the road.  Maggette is good enough to play a role on a good team.  The Warriors don't need him.

I wouldn't get Wall if I already had Curry and Ellis. Monroe could be the long athletic center/power forward they've been looking for.

They'd be crazy not to select Wall.  They can trade Ellis and play Curry at off-guard if necessary.

That's why I think they'd be in good shape if they got Cousins.  Monroe would be decent too if they fall in the lottery.  I agree that Anthony Randolph has tons of potential he just needs to get playing time.

That may be the best method to acquiring that third key piece to put alongside Curry and Randolph. Then concentrate on filling out the roster with complementary pieces while giving them room to grow into the top players they are capable of becoming.

Two notes / thoughts

• The Warriors may need a fourth player to fill out their core depending on the talent of that third player ... if they can't find anyone good enough to make a Big Three (long term)
• I think the Warriors should be willing to put anything and everything on the table, outside of Curry + Randolph, to try and land Evan Turner. He would be a perfect complement to those two and is an excellent prospect.

I'd try to convince the Grizzlies to do a sign and trade involving Ellis and Rudy Gay.  Then trade Maggette to some team that will take him for any future draft picks and expirings they offer.

Trading their pick and Ellis to move up in the draft could work as well.

The Warriors should not give up draft picks at this point, they need to stockpile as much young talent as they can and ACTUALLY DEVELOP IT instead of letting it waste on the bench in favor of less talented players that happen to be able to shoot.
