Hate to kick an organization when its down but kinda funny.

Quote
To add insult to the Cleveland Cavaliers' perils, the team was fined twice by the NBA for wearing their alternate uniforms in the six-game series loss to the Celtics, according to a league source. The Cavaliers wore their wine throwbacks in Games 3 and 4, which is against an NBA policy that strong suggests teams stick to one uniform during the playoffs or contact the league for approval if they decide to change.

The Cavaliers did not contact the league for approval and the NBA responded with a fine for the organization. The lone change the league approved was Phoenix's "Los Suns" jerseys for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio.

The Celtics wore their black trimmed alternates several times during the season but have struck with the conventional green and white road uniforms for the playoffs.

I actually like those "throwbacks" (they are not throwbacks since it's just their Price-Nance-Daugherty era ones with new colors) more than their regular ones. Stern doesn't  ;D

Funny story, and quite interesting, I always thought the league decided which jerseys you would wear for specific games! I thought the NBA was the one that encouraged to wear retro or alternate jerseys as much as you can.

I didn't know the teams were free of making their choice from game to game but apparently when they do, the league is not happy. :P

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Shaq doesn't look good in white, and the Cavs know it. The alt jersey colors are much more slimming.

I can kind of see where the league wants consistency here in the playoffs.  Who here has ever thrown the ball to an opposing player mistakenly in a game?

Yeah, I know the colors will be different, but Stern rightfully doesn't want this to be a grey issue come playoff time.  If teams have control over this, I'm sure they could make the colors look awfully similar to the other team's.  Too much to risk in the playoffs.  Keep it simple when it matters.

Haha.  This topic does open itself up to tons of good jokes though

In all fairness:

Not too much of a difference (I know, they're Cavs jerseys and thus, ugly by defintion) and yes, I stayed away from a James jersey on purpose  ;)

Sounds like the Cavs are flouting the rules to sell more jerseys. I am glad to see them fined.

It is kinda funny because not even Stern could save the messiah....So I guess it's time to crap on them.

I hope that los sun's thing backfires big time on the league.

The Cavs have so many jerseys how can anyone remember what jersey was supposed to be their regular away jersey to begin with?

Los Suns is an even bigger reason for me to root against the Lakers.  I'll be getting one of those jerseys
