I really doubt you see ANY adjustments from either coach.

One, what happened at the end of the game was that the Magic started playing better defense and the Celtics lost focus. All Doc needs to do is to tell the team to keep doing what they were doing and to remember it' a 48 minutes game and not to lose focus. No personnel or system or rotational or minutes changes or adjustments will occur. Doc will just stress to give a better 48 minute effort.

Two, the Magic came out unfocused, unprepared for the Celtics' intensity and didn't give the required mental effort to match the physical one they brought. Simply put, Van Gundy will stress to trust the system, to match intensity with intensity and focus more. Unless Barnes is really hurting I doubt any changes will be forthcoming from the Magic either as, simply put, the Magic didn't play Magic basketball well yet in this series. When they do and if the team is still failing, then adjustments will come.

But seriously, no coach is going to be making adjustments after game one of a 7 game series, especially when one team came and played their game and the other didn't come and play their game.

One thing that will be great for our aged, grizzled vets is the break in play between games 2 and 3.
That's why we need to go all out in game 2. A win there and I doubt Magic would be ably to recover. Our starters must be really exhausted playing 5 games in a row with only one day of rest in between, but one more very big effort, and we would be able to see the promise land in the horizon.

Also glad were playing the next one Tuesday, it only helps our conditioning in the long run.....given we make it that far and reach the finals, our bodies will be tested ready to go.

I think they play better playing every other day. I think they get to keep a certain rhythm and I think they would be much rather prefer the game every other day schedule to the 4 games in 5 nights  in four different cities stuff they see in the regular season at times.

celts wont make any major adjustment, but will focus on execution and their game plan. i wouldnt be surprised if orlando starts reddick over barnes.  reddick had success and played well, while barnes is battling a back injury trying to chase ray around.

Especially since Barnes is a marginal starter.

I agree it was a meaningless. I can't think of how many comebacks fallen short we've had against the Magic that used to make me think we were better and would win our next game against them. Not anymore now I realize a failed comeback is just what it is - a loss.

If it makes the Magic feel better good for them. If it gives them the confidence to think they only need to play well in the 4th quarter even better for us. We just need to focus on us and stick to the plan for 4 quarters.

As long as we win the 3rd quarter, I'm confident we'll be fine in the 4th regardless of what happens.  When we won in '08 we did it on the strength of our 3rd quarters, and after a regular season in which we were awful after halftime, I'm very relieved to see us returning to being a good 3rd quarter team.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

we beat, according to a lot of people (not me), a better team.....in the opening game of the ecf on their home court......i dont care how we look doing it or by how much we win by. a win is a win, plain and simple!

co-sign & TP.

This is exactly right.

I think we could see Barnes out, and JJ or Pietrus in the starting lineup.

It will be interesting to see if SVG does some reactionary moves to counter the C's.  We all know how well that worked out for Mike Brown.

this is obviously true, but i do think some things happened in the fourth that were cause for a concern going forward. no one made the case that ugly wins are bad and we want to give the win back. we all will be dancing in the streets if the celts win 7 more games, no matter how ugly or get wrenching they are.

  • You say when......
I really don't think the C's played bad for those 6 minutes...it was more like O started hitting their shots, which they will do, especially at home.  That reddick matchup will cause us problems.....I don't know who he will guard if Ray is out, But TA maybe can get reddick in foul trouble, along with Ray....Some more Nate willl keep rondo fresh..Or MD......don't take Orlando lightly, they are a high scoring team. We can beat them, but it won't be easy...and I hope Doc doesn't "freeze up" with his rotations, he has shown great pose under pressure, but he has been known to get the deer in the headlights role also, and just go with the 5-6 starters when things don't work....

I love what happened in this game.

All Doc has to do is show the video from this one game. Contained in this video will be great examples of what works against this team and what absolutely doesnt.

I like this better than a wire to wire blowout because those games are usually followed by letdowns in the next game.

When the Magic made their comeback, they went away from Dwight and went to the drive and dish game with Vince and Jameer. I think that next time the Magic change their philosophy, we will be ready to stop their penetration a little bit more. We are very versatile defensively.

Wow.  I never thought I would see Vin Diesel being quoted.
