If LeBron goes to the New Jersey Nets/Brooklyn Knights wouldn't it just be the ultimate slap in the face to Knicks fans?

Probably, but Lebron doesn't owe any loyalty to the Knicks or Knicks fans.  I'd like to see him sign with the Nets, but I'm skeptical that it will happen.

Yes, but it would make a lot of people in the greater NY metro area happy none-the-less.  Personally, I think LBJ to the Nets is a better move than to the Knicks.

As I've said earlier, he gets all the benefits of being in NYC, without the weird Dolan family to deal with.  Plus the Nets are better than their record this year (IMHO), and there may be interesting international marketing opptys with the new owner.  Also, it will be a "new" franchise and so LBJ will have his chance to make a mark on the franchise.
Celtics fan for life.

Yeah, I think the chances of him leaving Cleveland aren't great. That would be the same as him admitting he's Pippen, not Jordan.

The Nets by far make the most sense to him. Lopez+Harris+Lee+top 4 pick, new arena in Brooklyn and an insanely rich owner who'd be willing to spend anything he wants on the team, and a chance to really put a franchise on the map.

But I still think he will stay in Cleveland. I think his ego wouldn't allow him to leave at a time when so many are questioning him. He'll probably sign a 2 or 3 year deal.

Assume they get the number 1 pick, which granted they probably will not, they could draft Wall, and then package Harris and a future #1 to someone for another piece to make it even more attractive than any other place.

Also an owner who will keep his ego in check. I think an underrated aspect in all of this is that Lebron shouldn't be the GM / Coach of his team, I think the business savvy of the Russian will help in this regard. In terms of the historical aspect, making the nets a champion would have to rank up there.

I don't think Knick fans would have anything to complain about (except that previous mistakes made getting Lebron harder.) They'd still have a shot at Wade - imagine Wade and Lebron on the two NY teams going head to head?

Even better if Staudamire and Bosh both came to town :)

If he went to the Heat, I'd agree.

Who on the Nets right now or could be would you take over Lebron? (Apart from Wade)

I can't think of a single reason why LeBron would pick NJ over NY. He'd have the same opportunities (money, talent of teammates, etc.) in NY and it's a bigger spotlight there.

Because the Nets have better prospects? Lopez? Harris? Wall (possibly)?

Really?
Well, first the nets are moving to Brooklyn, so the spotlight thing is a wash.
Then, look at the team already in place at each spot. In order to be able to get 2 max players, new york would have to either sign and trade or renounce the rights to David Lee, McGrady, etc. Which means that the team he would have had in NY would be Lebron, the other max player, Curry, Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, plus a roster full of minimum salary players.

In the Nets, he'd be playing in Brooklyn with a team that has Devin Harris, Lopez, Lee, a top 4 lottery pick, and enough money left over to get close to a max player (or, they can trade Harris for one of the other max free agents).

Any way you cut it, he'd have a much better supporting cast with the nets than in NY.

Okay.....let's say Lebron's going to the Nets, despite them ending up with the third pick in the draft and not Wall or Evans....Who the heck do they take at #3?

probably Derrick Favors, no?

That was great. Should've thought of it.

Anyways, I've always felt that basketball wise his best choice is Miami if Wade stays, though I'm not sure they would want to play together yet if at all. But, that's almost a guaranteed Championship regardless of who you put around them.

After that I say the Nets are just a great place for him to go. They have a ton of cap space + a lot of cheap young assets that they can retain, some of them quite talented.

And it's a tie between Chicago and the Clippers. I don't know why the Clippers are being overlooked so much, talented young core with Griffin who even though hasn't played yet, really looks to be what he's been hyped as.

Edit: Whomever's idea was to automatically change words into "dangit" deserves a beating. What a horrible idea. If you don't like the word, get it completely censored. Don't alter our words. "Dangit" is not me, and I don't like using it so don't change it behind my back please. Thanks. Jack Bauer wouldn't be caught dead using "Dangit". What a disgrace. Funny that it's not even replacing a bad word. Have you guys watched the movie "Village of the [dang]ed"?
