Rondo closing out the Cavs.... good or bad?

I still can't make up my mind if he had a great game or a poor game.

When he was on he was brilliant. When he was off, he was just killing us.

Defense was very questionable at times, particularly in the 1st half. But I thought he  was solid for the most part through the rest, and great at times.

So can you guys help me out? Great game or poor game?

I mean he was efficient, had 12 assists.... etc.... but I can't get out of my head the 18 points Mo had in the 1st half, and when he almost single handedly let the Cavs come back into the game in the 1st half through quite a few stretches, and hated how he ran the offense through portions in the 4th. I mean there was a possession where the only thing he did was dribble the ball for 23 seconds at the top of the key...

You have to give the other team something, and Rondo wasn't always guarding Mo. I think he had a good game especially once he started getting aggressive... plus he had five steals which led to fast break dunks.

It was a good game.  Remember Mo Williams is a really good scorer he was bound to go off eventually, and he only had 2 points in the entire second half.

When he started going off, I just didn't see him fighting through screens and defending the pick and roll well, which at times might be one of his biggest weaknesses defensively.

So while not all 18 where on him, in part he let him get going.

I love him when he pressures the full court, but one can't have him playing that role constantly. But all these minutes do take away from one of his biggest strengths defensively.

But then there's the other side... good defense in the 2nd half on him. So, you can see my dilemma.

He had a good game, I wasn't happy with how he defended in the first half. But he responded in the second and gave him nothing.

When we started giving the ball to PP in the fourth quarter, I thought a squandered lead was in the offing. Mo Williams scored a bunch in transition - and credit to him for his effort. But Rondo brings so much more to the table than he takes off it.

My problem was that what Rondo was doing enabled the Cavs to get back into the game in the 1st half, when we should've had a comfortable lead. And once the Cavs are in play, then the damage has already been done and anything can happen.

It was just an inopportune time to have one of his worst stretches this playoffs, and just a bunch of bad consecutive plays. If the plays would've been spread throughout the game, then it doesn't matter much.

  He probably also created at least 7-8 turnovers, which helps the cause.

It's a fair point you make. Those p&r's were huge problems. And we're gonna see a lot more of that starting Sunday.

It is however the benefit of having four legit all-stars. If only two of them play well, we win. If three play well, we win comfortably. If all four play well... we blow everybody out.

KG to me has been the MVP these playoffs, he's doing it all and more, and we're still underutilizing him. Though Rondo has been [dang] good though. Co-MVP. And we can't leave Ray behind.

Pierce will do his damage in the next series and beyond regardless of who we face, plus he had some very good moments in the 1st round.

I've got to say, I was surprised to see some of Rondo's silly decisions last night.  I think there were moments when the pressure was getting to him a bit.

This. It wasn't close to Rondo's best game in the playoffs. His decision-making with the basketball was spotty for a bunch of the evening, and his first half defense wasn't good at all.

Turned the defensive issue around totally in the second half, though.

Pretty good is a fair assessment.
