ESPN giving us some credit where its due.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

For real I have no idea what ESPN is going for with this coverage. They're not doing much to keep the attention of Celtics fans and they must be depressing the heck out of Cavs fans with the overused Cleveland sports lowlights clip and all this FA speculation.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

ESPN just can't market True Teamwork, I think. To be honest, the only anchor I really respect now is Tim Legler and Avery Johnson.

I used to like Mike Wilbon, but some of the stuff he had coming out of his mouth about the Celtics had us buried a long time ago.

  • Thank you Eddie!
The overnight guy on ESPN Radio seems to think that Lebron's effort was some grand conspiracy by Soviet communists to entice him to leave Cleveland or something like that. ::)

Ok - I'll ratchet back my dislike of ESPN. I was a little too harsh in my last comments about them.

I just wish that they would give Boston just a Smidgen of attention here, though.

Most of the post-game has focused on Lebron. But oddly, I think that Doc and the team likes it like this. We have bigger goals in mind.

On to ORL!

They are slowly but progressively going more and more toward "the elbow" excuse ... man, for some reason people can not get their heads around anyone actually playing good defense on LeBron.

The Celtics won this series for one main reason: When they're healthy and in-sync, they just plain play better as a team ... at both ends of the floor. Tony and Paul and Ray played as well defensively on LBJ as anyone has all year, and the Cavs were not playing like the cohesive unit the Celtics were.

Awesome effort by the C's, and I can tell already that they are not going to get the credit for this that they should, and that the media in general is going to use every excuse possible rather than admit that the Celtics, when healthy, are just a better team.

Stop torturing Cleveland fans! My goodness even with my current giddiness right now they are starting to bum me out. I'm starting to remember why I hardly watch ESPN.

10 minutes into sportscenter, all LEBRON!!!....I understand the ramifications and the consequences if he loses, but the coverage is enough to make you want to throw up. Four reporters covering this story. I hope we win, because im sick of As Lebron Turns.

Go celtics!!
Sorry, but Lebron being eliminated before his FA year is actually a bigger story than a team making it to the conference finals. It's not like we made it into the finals yet.

  • Rondo = Good
Skip Bayless, at least, is loving this.  Ric Bucher, too.

They definitely went overboard and ended up turning people against the player that they intended to market. Maybe it worked, though, since everyone probably tuned into the game to see the media darling knocked out. I don't blame Lebron. If you are good, they will roll out the red carpet.

Im genuinely curious what their reaction would've been if Rondo had his statline during Lebron's poor performance during game 5. Lebron 80/Rondo 20% of the coverage? Who knows?

Just something to feed this thread some more...

The content archive is still littered with Lebron articles.
