  • You say when......
Who said perk is getting dumped...I don't think he will, he needs major work, but for average money, he is worth keeping...i don't love his inability to dunk, or that he doesn't look for offensive rebounds (like sheldon) but he still plays some good D, Scal has to be dumped, his inability to develop any inside play, or any type of shot shows he is worthless, he does get paid to play you know, and get in shape, he was the 6th highest player on the C's....ANYONE can develop a reliable shot, especially given the time, pay, and access to pro trainers scal had over 6-10 years....to be that open and that useless is not acceptable in a Celtic uniform. SHELDON should have all of scals time on the floor...that is docs mistake, because every time now that sheldon is on the floor he shows us that he can move, rebound and score quite well.

As for Shaq, he is too expensive, doesn't run much, isn't in great shape, slows our team up more than they are now, the only ones that run are rondo, TA...and...? BBD tries, but he is a pitifull jumper, he has an inverse jump...!

once again...i would look at shaq at the right price...do you think he would want a piece of kobe and the fakers next year in the finals...what are we missing off the bench...post presence...inside scoring...rebounding...blocked shots...shaq can provide 10 minutes a game off the bench...

The only thing I can say about this is Shaq won't change the tempo of our team because we are not a fastbreaking team no matter how great or fast Rondo is.

We are halfcourt team and we run on opportunity.

Shaq won't hurt our tempo and he could provide cloggage for the lane.

We've allowed too much penetration to the rim this year.

Ack. No Shaq.

That's the wrong direction for this team.

You've got ego issues there (ask Mike Brown and Terry Porter) and he's old, and he's slow and his injury risk is high.

Bad, bad idea.

At this point in his career shaq cannot play the celtics defensive scheme which is why I was against Mutumbo coming here.  We need fleet footed bigs to jump out and rotate back down, shaq isn't it anymore

A bench is always missing SOMETHING. That's why they are the bench. I dont mind that there isnt really a post presence even though Sheed is as it gets when he wants to be.

How much money would we have to spend on the guy to play 10 minutes off the bench? I like our big rotation now. Nice mix of youth and experience. If anything we need quick bigs not another lumberer.

I support the signing of Shaq.

He's still a beast and he's still unable to be moved.

If he played within a team system (aka the Celtics) as opposed to playing Robin for a one man show (aka Lebron) then he would get to the finals every year.

He didn't play unbelievable in our series but he did serious damage and still has a great passing touch.

I'd sign him at the league minimum.

He can be a great backup for Perk.

Wish we had him for Game 7  :-[

His contract expires at the end of the season. I think he'd be willing to take the minimum to play somewhere that could compete for a title one more time.

I wonder if he'd still get away with having 3 pivot feet on each posession if he was just a bit player.

I like Shaq, he's good for the sport. I also think he'd be good for the Celtics getting 15 or 20 minutes.

However, I imagine he'll ask for big money again and that's something I doubt the Celtics will give him. Another team will likely give it to him though.

At this point, the goal has to be doing whatever you have to do to combat the size of L.A. Shaq would help in this regard tremendously. Having Perk and Shaq to throw at Gasol would be awesome. Shaq would treat Gasol like the rag doll that he is. If he agreed to come at a reasonable price, i would most certainly bring him on board.

The scariest scenario for me is if the Heat got Bosh and then convinced Shaq to come on the cheap...er. Starting five of Chalmers/Wade/Wright/Bosh/Shaq is enough to run ripshod over the league for a season.

With Perk's and Wallace's questionable status for next year I'm all for signing Shaq and if you have all 3 healthy come playoff time that's a bonus.   Hopefully Baby can take another step up with his play next year as well.

It would be strange though having a former Laker on our team.   How many times has that happened?  Gary Payton is the only 1 can think of in recent history.
