This series, indeed this run by the Celtics didnt start when the tipoff happened in the first game at the Q. Well technically it did. But most commentators and most fans knew that these teams would clash.

The lean towards Cleveland was sealed by Bostons poor runs in the regular season, but at the beginning of the season, with Sheed added on, the team were flagged as a championship contender. Indeed when we beat Cleveland in the first game of the season, all the pieces clicked, with a Lebron who was FULL on.

Many of the commentators have focussed almost entirely on Cleveland not fulfilling their potential. Well thats the reason they dropped the Celtics during the regular season. Yet, noone seems to appreciate that this Celtic team is actually a great TEAM, albeit an older one.

The ONLY player I would take from Cleveland would be Lebron. Even off the bench I wouldnt take Varejao over Big Baby. Baby can shoot the mid range jumper efficiently and if his hustle is up, he matches the one quality AV has.

Bostons biggest deficiency is their energy, especially against teams like the Hawks and the Thunder and the Suns. Teams that matchup well vs them because of their run and gun game.

A real analysis of the games, both this series, and to come, would concentrate the minds that the Lakers, and Celts are the half court behemoths, whilst the Suns and the Magic are the three point, higher tempo activity teams.

The Cavs ? They are simply still Lebron and suporting cast playing the pace that Lebron plays.

And THATS WHY they are struggling ! A large part of that is that the Celtic defence has on a whole has made it hard for the rest of the team to score. Not necessarily Lebron. His opportunities exist and if he has issues with his coach or the team its not the Celtics fault.

But our great Celtics team matchup well vs the Cavs. Win or lose they deserve much more respect. Hopefully it will be all the way to banner 18.

Yea, its so annoying. Ever since our game last night, I reveled in knowing that there were going to get some more credit and national news about how great we played.. But no! That is not what I've been seeing, and its 5:16 right now, Boston time. I've only seen articles on "whats wrong with Lebron?" or "Somethings up with the King"...

Makes me so mad.
Yeeeaaaa!!!

Even I'm growing weary of the Lebron-centric nature of the coverage (Woj's article aside).

I think we have to beat them tomorrow, suffer through a couple of days of Cavs post-mortems before we get any credit.

And even then, we'll be underdogs against the Magic.

Whatever. As long as we keep winning.

I'm not overly concerned about the media except when they use the injuries excuse because it's obviously being done as way to cover up their 4 or 5 game series predictions.

But as far as talent you are spot on.  Not much to choose from on that roster.  4 of 5 starters are mismatches as well as some of the bench players.  These teams aren't very close in talent and that's played out with Boston winning up 3-2 and if they had finished game 1 it would be over.

Double digit leads in 5 of 6 games means domination.

It's always been this way.  It will be all about Dwight and then Kobe as well.

Collectively I think there is way too much emphasis put on the Celtics position within the media, in a word (or two); Who cares?

The media and the fans are always going to root for the single player over the team. For the casual fan who only sees highlights of the game on a regular basis, it's easy to understand why.

The best thing (for me) about being under the media's radar is seeing the C's completely destroy a team many predicted would sweep us and watching the so called analysts scrambling to find any excuse, no matter how ridiculous it may be.

exactly, it makes it even more enjoyable. We were supposed to struggle or even lose to the heat, and get swept by the cavs. I guess the next prediction (assuming we make the next round) will be that the magic will beat us down so badly in game 1 that we will forfeit the series.

Sadly it wont
If we manage to win No.6, orlando is a whole different story
Even when i dont care that much about vince ( hes hungry this year even tough ..see paul pierce first chance) Rashard always killed us, deron had great game against us, and pietrus will give ray and pierce a tough day, giving the other two chance to rest and score.
Its all about tony and maybe marquis because unlike Cleveland, lakers and Orlando are teams. like us.

Well, I Love The Disrespect, myself. Same thing happened in 2007-2008. Nearly everyone picked the Lakers then.

I promise you this, CBers: If we can put CLE away, then LA or ORL will be on ESPN's radar or TNTs. We won't get the respect until we are hoisting the banner in June of this year.

We are still "Too Old, Washed up." We are not the sleek sports cars of LA or ORL. We are the Tougher, older model Caddilac.

I must admit, though - Our Rondo and TA makes us a Lot smoother, though. I love to see those two in the game together.

I love the disrespect, it's fuel to the fire for the Celtics... if everyone was kissing their fannies, they may not come out as determined to prove people wrong

I really think Pierce isn't Pierce if he didn't slip to #10 in the draft... things like that give you focus and determination that being everyone's darling don't
