I've been pleasantly surprised about how little he's done this series.  Very overrated, IMO.  No actual bball skills and very limited athleticism.  He would be nice at 3 million a year off the bench.

He basically makes the same amount as Rondo.  lol.

Or he is playing with a very bad back

Fair point.  But when did he lose his testicles?

Ahh injuries.

Let me get out the worlds smallest violin.

So he has actual basketball skills and you consider him athletic?

Did you watch him play the Celtics this year before he was hurt?  Or did you conveniently choose to forget those games?

And PosImpos - No clue, but Rondo made sure there was nothing left

He's a good athlete, not a great one for the NBA though. Probably around Perkins level.

As for his basketball skills he has plenty: rebounding, defense, and screen setting.

AV is a solid role player, with limited skills. An excellent energy guy. Like Glen Davis, if you underestimate him, he can can ignite his team with hustle plays. However if you give him lots of attention he gets exposed for being very average and very stoppable.

I forgot about the time when Wade jammed over and um into AV.

If you edit his skills to be limited offensive skills you'd be right on the money. I still think he's the second best player on the Cavs squad.

His sub-par play has removed one of my biggest worries heading into the series.

Well no surprise I disagree.

I've just never been a big fan of his flopping and it seems even worse this series.  Maybe it's injuries that have him looking so much like a fish out of water, not sure.

His apex is nice big of the bench at 3 million max.

That's pretty much my interpretation of him as well.

Yes AV has decent defensive skills. He does a solid job on KG - Cleveland's best matchup on KG in fact.

Likewise Davis also has decent defensive skills. I like what I have seen from him guarding Shaq.

AV and Davis are very similar to me. Even though one can do a little more on D and one can do a little more on O. Ultimately they are limited skill (or size) energy players.

Yeah, in fairness to the Cavs I think Varejao's injuries and his below-average play are under-reported storylines in this series.  Varejao has absolutely killed the Celtics in the past.  His absence was the main reason - in my opinion - that we managed to win on Easter Sunday.

Varejao so far has been limited. I dont think it is a function of his back though. He has looked like himself only we are crashing the glass and limiting his offensive rebounding which is his best quality IMO.

You disagree that defense, rebounding, and screening are basketball skills?

Or that he's good at them?

Cavs should come out to this.
