This is how good Rondo is.... (Posted this elsewhere)

Well, hate to sound negative here but Rondo was the point guard on a team that struggled to get to 50 wins this year.
Hate to sound positive here but Rondo was the best player on a 50 win team.

Was he the best player? Perhaps, but he was, like the team,  inconsistent. Also, I still think KG has more of an impact than Rondo. The team is playing much better now that he's much closer to healthy. It's hard to separate that from Rondo's performance in my mind.

6' tall point guards are always going to be easier to find than 7' tall big men. As good as Rondo is, you'd trade him for Howard in a heart beat.

People are overreacting with this top 5 nba player stuff.

Top 5 nba player is overrating Rondo, but I'd say that "capable of dominating a playoff series against a title contending team" is pretty accurate.

Is Rondo capable of being the best player on a title team? Probably, under the right conditions. It would have to be a team like the Pistons, which is, coincidentally, the kind of team we have. People like to say that a pg can't be the best player on a title team even though it's happened about 7 times since 1980.

Cleveland's been a top 2-3 team the entire season and they're healthy. Is Rondo capable of leading us past the Cavs? If not, why not? Is he capable of leading us past the Lakers? If not, why not? It's almost like people watch Rondo play and then claim that he's not capable of doing what they just watched him do.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think Rondo is currently a perennial All-Star level player. A very dynamic talent who is capable of thoroughly dominating games.

As he continues to improve his consistency, which he is making strides in doing, Rondo should become a clear-cut All-NBA level player.

If he ever adds a jump shot, or a scorer's mentality, Rondo could become an MVP caliber player.

Dont know he is too inconsistent to make a definite anaylsis. Yesterday he was amazing. He is not better than D Williams, Derrik Rose, or Chris Paul but definetely a top 5 pg.

He's not a better consistent shooter than the ones you mentioned, (yet), but he's already a better ball-handler and rebounder, and easily on the same par when it comes to passing. Before his career is through, (barring serious injury), he will be one of the best PG's of all time, IMVHO. (Been saying this since his college days).

Great Discussions here.

I believe Rondo is Great. He played great during the playoff run last year, and has been great for us thus far. He has had some inconsistencies this season, but overall I would place him maybe one step below D Will and CP3.

But even that Gap is closing. D Will outplayed him (but not by much) in their head to head meetings this year.

I believe that S Nash outplayed him, too..at least offensively.

If I remember correctly, his match against CP3 was nearly even.

Like Who stated - work on his Jumper, which he will.

He will only get better, too....especially as the Big Three give him room. He is not even in his Prime, yet.

Rondo's been able to hang with CP3 and Nash pretty well, not just this year but in previous years. But Deron Williams ate him alive in Utah this season. It was just brutal. Rondo struggles with bigger, physical guys more than he does quick guys.

If Utah called today and offered Deron Williams for Rondo, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

Nope - D Will is Great - maybe the best right now, but not as good a rebounder as Rondo. I wouldn't make such a trade. D Will is a better scorer than Rondo, but that's it.

I think as a , shooter, scorer, and as a physical presence, Williams has advantages over Rondo. They're about even on the passing side. Rondo has marginally better rebounding stats (they're essentially even as defensive rebounders while Rondo is slightly ahead on the offensive glass).

I'd still make the deal. But he and CP3 are the only ones I'd deal Rondo for right now.

After reading your post carefully, I must agree that Right Now CP3 and D Will are slighty better, but I still wouldn't trade our Rondo for either of them. I see your point now. Sometimes my Green-Colored glass obstruct my view.

On a side note, though...I just finished chatting with a classmate in my English class online and we were discussing sports. I typed in "Rondooooooohhhhhhhhh!" to him as I was discussing the Celtics Series with CLE.

LOL! Hope he's not upset. I looked at his profile and saw that he's from Youngstown, Ohio ;D
