In all honesty, I think we all knew if would be quite a feat if they won this series.  This team has passed it's prime, and the mass wants Cleveland to be the next great team.

The way the present NBA is set up a team builds around one superstar, who you may be lucky enough to get in the draft.  Danny Ainge wasn't lucky enough to have this happen, so he gave us the next best thing.  Three second tier superstars on the same team.  We all knew when it happened we had a three year window to make it happen.

Be thankful we got the one when we did.  At that time the NBA pushed that story.  We are no longer whom the media wish to see.  It is time this team must be broken up and we start over.  I have watched and suffered since the time of Bird.  Personally, I am thankful to the C's for that one championship.  Many cities never get to experience that fleeting moment.

I am happy for the big three that they won't be remembered in similar light as Barkley, Malone, Stockton, and other greats who just were not good enough.

It's time to be retrospective and thank Paul Pierce for being one of out greats and in the same breathe wave goodbye.

Just imagine had we not got that one championship!!!

Indeed.  We got a title from this group, and that's more than most fans can say of their team.

Heck, in a few years when we're all praying to win the lottery we'll miss this deeply-flawed, often disappointing yet occasionally thrilling 50 win team full of past-their-prime Hall of Famers.  :)

Who knows how long it might be after this year or the next before we get back to the ECF, or even the second round?  The Atlanta Hawks have been rebuilding for years and apparently their team has peaked as a second-round speed bump for better teams.  We're lucky we're not them (and we might be them in another ten years).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Lets also note that the Celtics spanked Cleveland in game 2, and then Cleveland bounced back and did what they did last night.  So there's no reason why we can't spank Cleveland tomorrow and even the series.

Also, let's not forget that in '85 the C's destroyed the Lakers 148-114 and then went on to lose the series in 6 games.  The lesson?  Even great teams get blown out, but they can also bounce back.

Finally, while the play was disappointing, it was also one of those nights where everything went wrong for us and everything went right for them.

Still, I agree with the OP that we shouldn't be too bitter about this team, even if they did lose.  The Knicks haven't won a title since '72-73.

I don't get it. The series is 2-1. Lets not talk about it like its over, signed, sealed, delivered, outcome decided. The Celtics got blown out in game 3. Is your memory so short that you don't remember game 2 in which The Celtics blew out the Cavs on their home court? Is that just gone, evaporated now?

Look, those who said we were coasting on to the ECF's after our strong game 2 performance were overstating things, but to now call an end of an era when the series is 2-1, exactly where homecourt would have it, is an equal overstatement. Why don't we watch the rest of the series before calling it over?

Let's be Thankful we've won a game in this OBVIOUSLY BIASED series...Cavs getting 90% of the calls, and we still have a win?...pretty lucky if you ask me.

Does anyone really think the refs have been fair?....really?

I know last night's loss was bad but I didn't realize that we lost three games in one and lost the series already.

I am very thankful for this team - even this current team. This is way more fun than the 90's and most of the 2000's.

We're only down one game in the series. Lets not talk about breaking this team up, until our season is over. Blowouts happen. Superstars have superstar games. All we need to do is win one game on Sunday, and we dive into a 3 game series, all tied up.

Go Celtics!!
