WOHOO! Good work Rondo. I definitely think his on ball defense tightened up this year, even though he does still gamble. But in some ways his ball-hawking, gambling style is necessary to create havoc for the other team. And Rajon can create havoc like no other. I think this is well-deserved.

Glad that he made it, course now if a boneheaded play he makes going for a steal costs us a game he has a fig leave to cover himself

Rondo continues to cap off an amazing individual season... Now we just need to bring home that trophy and banner 18!

Sidenote: Happy to see Thabo Sefolosha getting some recognition and being voted 2nd team all-defense. That guy plays outstanding perimeter defense on some of the hardest guys to defend in the league - I want him in green haha

So Rondo finished with the second most vote totals for the First Team, yet was nowhere in the running for DPOY?

Just because the good defensive guards are a thinner group than good defensive bigs.

Perk finished pretty low. His D slipped last 2-3 months, but seems to have picked up again. Glad for Rondo, that was his goal.

Didn't he finish 4th or 5th for DPOY?

Those that think he's not a ' good ' defender but, get's lots of steals due to gambling can take solace in the idea that awards are subjective...

Funny, but Howard and Rondo are like a microcosm of the differences between Orlando and Boston's defense. They aren't that different statistically, but Orlando has a lower opposing fg% (DH's contribution) while the Celts force considerably more turnovers.

Great award for Rondo, and I doubt it'll be his last.

It almost seems like sacrilege to ask it, but is Rondo having the greatest season ever for a Celtics PG?  I think it's hard to argue against it.

I think voters almost always put a big man at DPOY anymore now.

Subtitle for this topic could be:

Kevin Garnett's demise exaggerated, his defense underrated.

I'd maybe also suggest Lebron James: I never foul! Defense made easy.

I think LeBron James deserves to be on there.
