That is right, it was in the paper and on the net, Stern said flat out, that he wants Lebron to stay in Cleve......Isn't that an improper use of position and or power...?  How does that ripple thru the league..? How far will he go to ENSURE he gets HIS wish....? "Well Lebron, I'll ensure the REFS are on your teams side 200%"    Well, we might have already seen something like that....! Did Mr Stert say he wanted Sheed to stay in Detroit...? Ray A on the C's.......This man should be impeached..ASAP...! Now I know why he is always at the Cleveland games...! Where is his money, where is Stern's roommate from college, that ref donaghy...? Wanna bet....? Honestly though, is the NBA headed to pro boxing-ville...?

CLEVELAND (AP) -- NBA commissioner David Stern knows Cleveland fans are anxious about this summer and LeBron James' pending free agency. He is rooting for the same outcome as Cavaliers fans.

"Hopefully he'll stay," Stern said Monday before Game 2 between Cleveland and Boston in the Eastern Conference semifinals. "That's the way the system is designed."

Stern helped negotiate the current collective bargaining agreement, which provides teams the ability to pay more and add an extra year for their own free agents. Stern is hopeful that will allow teams such as Cleveland to retain its stars.

"That's the way it should be," Stern said. "It allows teams to keep their own players."

Stern awarded James his second straight MVP award on Monday. He is aware of the attention dedicated to this summer, but doesn't want it to steal the spotlight away from the rest of the postseason or this summer's draft. Free agency doesn't begin until July 1.

"We do have this thing called the finals," Stern said, "and we have some great playoff games left."

Stern called James an "extraordinary" talent before giving the trophy shortly before tip-off to James, who won in a landslide vote announced Sunday. James is the 10th player in league history to win two straight MVP awards.

With the crowd doing its customary "M-V-P!" chant, James thanked his teammates and then reminded the 20,000-plus fans that his goal is to win a championship this season.

During a news conference, Stern said he is amazed at how James can shoot halfcourt shots with a simple flick of his wrist.

"I don't know how he shoots the ball so far so easily," Stern said. "You get the sense if you wanted to play H-O-R-S-E with him and it was a halfcourt line, he'd shoot 50 percent."

Maybe I misread your post, but it seems clear to me you are insinuating that Stern will do anything to make sure the Cavs win this series and go on to the championship so Lebron will stay in Cleveland.

Well, I admit I do get.....animated, or excited...about our team...but  I try not to ever say someone else is anything but a fan of ours...! (our team!). I did lean toward the subject...the way you said...but it doesn't make sense to me that the league President would say something like that....it, to me, is like insider trading, it is improper business. He should be more discrete as the league President, and leave his influence out of it. Also showing up to all the games, but not ALL the NBA games, just Lebrons......it is....odd, isn't it....Isn't anything here odd, Sterns words and actions that is...?

a bit off topic, but maybe all those needless half court shots he throws up in warmups may have contributed to his elbow problems.

But wait! The clause he's referring to is called the LARRY BIRD exception! He loves it! That must mean he is rooting for the Celtics, since he's trumpeting a clause named after a great Boston player!  ;)

Sorry, but it's ridiculous to suggest he's going to bend the rules for Lebron. But LBJ means THE WORLD to the Cavs, a team that was having a terrible stretch of bad luck / inept managing before he got there. The clause ensures he'll get significantly more to stay than he would if he left. The more teams that excel, the better the league looks.

Hahaha, good one....Have you ever hear sooo much talk about a minor injury to a young , what 23 year old player...? How many players play all the time with a BAG of injuries, heck, even Kobe has had finger problems for...well, all year...we all know, those fingers and toes take FOREVER to heal, ankle problems, knee, problems, back.........Marv Albert and Reggie were like advertising for his elbow,,,everytime he missed a shot, it WAS HIS ELBOW, every time he MADE a shot, it was because he was great......Reggie and Marv are not good together, Reggie is Mr Monotone, and Marv......well who knows........I just wish they would be more announcers and less biased....it isn't cleveland TV, it is National TV...! Pro boxing, here we come..!

Well, maybe he should try to get him to go to Memphis, or LA clippers, or any of the other teams that have languished at the bottom of the league.....This is the first time I have ever heard Stern advocate for a player to stay on a team, look at all the other players that have moved around......what did he say about them...? Shaq left LA, Left Orlando......How do you choose who you support and who you don't.......as the President of the League.....
