They say the Team with the best player wins more often than not. We have the best player in this series: Rondo! No one has played better than him in this series. He's the STAR so far!

No, the best team wins.  Remember Kobe against the Celtics in '08 and Cleveland against Orlando last year.  The best player didn't win in those instances.

I believe the Celtics are a better team than the Cavs.

On a related note, to everyone who complains (probably rightly) about all the attention LeBron gets from the media, take note of how much they're fawning over Rondo right now.  He definitely deserves it, but don't say Celtics never get nationally hyped.

No arguments from the Cavs fan here.  Rondo is abusing the Cavs right now.  Hopefully he eventually gets tired.

I think Rondo is equally as vital to the Celtics as Lebron is to the Cavs.  Do you guys agree?

Overall, no.  LeBron is a much bigger part of the Cavs' success.  Rondo's the most valuable player on the team but not by a landslide; the Celtics have 3-4 HOFers at the tail end of their primes and can still beat good teams when he has a bad game.  Cavs have 1 other HOFer and he's a shadow of his former self.

In this series, though, yes - Rondo's by far our biggest matchup advantage.  We need him to play at an all-league level to win.

Pierce was the best player in the 08 series and his team did win. However, Shawn Kemp was the best player in the  Finals against Chicago one year and his team didnt (sorry to go back so far but it's the best example I could think of). Rondo has clearly been the  best player in this series and it's not coincidence. I dont think many people realize how good he even is, much less how good he will be. He's smart, disciplined, freakishly athletic and quite competitive and that is a deadly combination. For heavens sake, Larry had only 3 of those! If you think that is a crazy comparison you might want to look at some of the Celtics greats who Rondo passed this year. This kid is about to enter a realm of players that only few players ever reach, he's that good.

Yeah, I was actually referring to this series specifically.  I don't think the Celtics could beat the Cavs without Rondo, just like the Cavs aren't beating the Celtics wihout Lebron.

Don't worry, LeBron will make his stamp on this series.

If you take both Rondo and Lebron away, the Celtics would dominate the Cavs without question.

So yes Rondo is the Celtics most important player right now. But No he is not as important as Lebron is to the Cavs.

Agreed. The best team wins. The best team usually has the best players - plural.

Will Lebron's teammates step up enough to make them the best team? We'll see.
