... Ray Allen.  The guy so many folks wanted to trade.  The guy other fans aren't sure if they want to re-sign.

Ray has been amazing thus far in the playoffs.  Tonight, he had a fairly quiet 22 points and 7 rebounds, while playing great defense.  Outside of Rondo, he's probably been our most consistent player over the seven playoff games thus far.

Stats so far:

19.0 pts, 3.1 reb, 2.6 ast, 51.1% FG%, 48.0% 3PT%

Let's hear it for Ray!

The most impressive thing about tonight's win is that he was guarding James through most of the second half due to Pierce's foul trouble.

Props for Ray, really love him. With him is all about keeping him in rhythm, since the first game Rondo and the team have been doing a better job in finding him when he gets open.

One of my main criticisms, and it's still in place, with Rondo is that he doesn't seem to time his passes correctly with Ray as often as I would like. But when he's getting him the ball as he should, the dynamic is a thing of beauty.

But overall, everyone is doing his part. And for all the KG doubters throughout the season, he's been very good for us during the playoffs.

Time for a "Let's Keep Ray Allen, Let Sugar Ray Retire as a Celtic" thread?  ;)

Yep.  Can't give Ray enough credit for the way he's played so far in the post-season.  Let's just hope it keeps up.

We're gonna need him against Orlando. ;)

Okay, that was ridiculously optimistic and I need to take it back.  We're going to need him in Games 3-5 (at least).

Let me preface this by saying I love Ray Allen. He's great player, a great teammate, does a lot for the Boston community, and just seems to be an all around stand up guy.

However, part of me still wishes we used his contract in a trade to bring in more youth. But, we didn't so I've accepted that.

Now on whether or not we should resign him, A LOT of factors come into play for that decision... Depends on money, years, what type of players we add in the draft/free agency this summer...

If we'd made a trade for youth, we would have basically been punting this season, right?  By doing that, there would have been no guarantee that we made it even this far in the near future.

In terms of re-signing Ray, I think a fairly generous two year deal would be in the best interests of both Ray and the team.

i'm more impressed with his D. Who knew Ray can defend like this? Is Tom Thibodeau working his magic again?

Way to go Ray

I agree. I would love to see him back on a 2 year deal. Doesn't jeopardize the long term rebuilding plans as he would expire at the same time as KG, and would allow him to retire a celtic. Call me sentimental, but I would love to see these guys retire as celtics.

Great playoffs run by Ray so far, hopefully he keeps it up!

But really he has been the most consistent Celtic along with Rondo since the All-Star Break, it's amazing how the end of the trade rumors can help your game uh?

And he is back to his classic shooting percentage from 3 in the playoffs so it's all good so far! And yeah, I was impressed by his defense on LeBron last night, he did an excellent job preventing him from getting the ball and then from driving to the paint.

Nice Post, Roy.

I am happy for Ray. His struggles during the post-season as a Celtic have been noted, but he definitely seems to be hitting his stride this year.

We certainly need it.

He needs to keep this up the whole series. If he can shoot the way he has thus far we are a much more dangerous team...

Keep it up Ray!

He is definitely in sync with the offense right now.

And if the official continue to let the Celtics be that physical defensively off the ball, I love the defense.
