If you recall, that was the series where Bibby outplayed not only Chris Webber, but also Christie, Stojakovic, Jackson, Turkoglu, and the others. He was the WCF MVP, since the Lakers basically stopped the other four (esp Webber) and not Bibby, during that series, esp game 7. He passed at every double (or triple) team and either took it to the basket or took a clean shot, whenever he could and esp when the game was on the line. The Lakers knew he was unstoppable.

Rondo can impact the game on both ends, Bibby couldn't do that. Weber did shy away at times in that series, but he didn't play poorly.

Well, in the series, and esp in the final minutes of game 7, Bibby almost singlehandedly beat the Lakers.

The others, from Webber to Stojakovic, were tossing bricks and making poor plays right into the Lakers' defenses.

I recall the possession where 4 Lakers attacked Bibby, trying to stop him from getting his shot off, and Bibby found Peja for a wide open jumper and Peja bricked it.

If Rondo can attract that many defenders then we're good to go for years :D !

Good comparison, I see what you're getting at. Now if Rondo could get a jumpshot like Bibby, wow watch out.

On another note, it's been a long time since I heard anything about Bibby, is he in Woodson's dog-house in ATL?

Pretty much.

Those 5-10 mins in '02 had sealed Bibby's legacy. If Webber didn't choke the last game, the Kings would have gone on to the finals and most likely, Bibby would have gotten the finals MVP esp given his out-of-the-world performances during those playoffs. Too bad.

in terms of that year, the refs also had a little something to do with the kings not going to the finals. bibby was unstoppable back then.

The refs' shenanigans had it go a full 7, much like our recent game 1 against the Cavs, but in the end, it was Webber and the crew (minus Bibby) who folded in the end.

All of the Lakers were in awe of Bibby's performance and pretty much, if the Kings ran pick 'n pops, with Bibby getting off the final shot, they would have won. Really, one 6'2" guard nearly beat 'em. I'd never seen anything like that since (albeit it is a bit reminiscent of Andrew Toney's historic performances during the early 80s),  however, I think Rondo's on the verge of something like that in his career. Let's hope that it's this series.

Ok, after game 4, it's clear that Rondo is doing what Bibby did during the '02 WCF. He's the MVP of the series.

Now, it's time for the rest of the crew to not pull a 'Webber' and get the job done! Let's go Celtics!
