...and the Yankees aren't #1.

All I can say is...uh, why?

I blame Papelbon, and the obnoxious fans we have.

Seriously though, i take this survey with a grain of salt as there is no way the Indians are disliked more nationally than the Sox or Yankees.

I'm a huge Sox fan but the Sox have become the Yankees, as far as the rest of MLB is concerned.

Massive bloated payrolls, championships, overhype, bandwagon jumping "pink hat" fans.

I totally get the hate.

what I got from that article is that it basically measures the number of online postings that are positive or negative about a team.  in that case I'm not surprised the red sox are near the top because red sox fans are  usually more negative about the red sox than any other fans are about their team....

I blame the annoying fans. I also blame the horrible Green Line that no one can get on because of the dumb location of the ballpark.

Still, the article misrepresents the report. As obnoxious as Red Sox fans are, the rankings are related to online comments, including comments of fans disappointed with poor starts.

Yeah, I completely understand all that.  But why aren't the Yankees in the top 10?  They and their fan base do all the things you just mentioned...only MORE!

The computer-generated rankings, Lewis said, were intended to determine "the correlation between positive and negative feelings generated by each team based on their starts to this season." They weren't an indication of which team is "most-loved or most-hated."

Exactly and considering we expected to have a championship level team and we are a game under .500 of course we'd have more postings online that are negative then positive.  This article doesn't really say anything to be honest, just that more Sox fans are concerned about how the team started.  It doesn't imply anything about the team being hated, as more than likely all of these negative posts are coming from Sox fans.
