You can't judge anything from garbage time.

No one was rotating hard.

Granted it was garbage time, but Quis looked pretty good out there on the offensive end.  So, to keep PP fresh and if TA gets in foul trouble it makes sense to use him as he wont be a liability of offense.  I wouldn't mind seeing TA and Quisy burn up 12 fouls on bron bron as he starts his bull rush.

Hard to judge because it was garbage time, but as much Quis has struggled he is still a nice luxury to have as the 4th/5th wing. I'll have to disagree about having TA burn up 6 fouls, he has become too important and they need him playing. I doubt we see Quis play much tomorrow unless theres major foul trouble, or its a blowout.

As much as i like Marquis, i have a hard time seeing him back here next year. I'd think he will be able to go somewhere else and get more minutes and money. The injury really screwed up his season, he looked pretty good before he hurt the hand.

This is an elimination game for us, I expect doc to play our starters even more minutes then usual, and for Rondo to hardly rest at all to secure this series at home.

I don't think Marquis will get on the floor unless it's a blowout again.

Celts coach Doc Rivers knows his substitutes will be very important against the Cavaliers.

“We don’t need them all, but we need a couple in every series,” Rivers said. “This is a series we may need Marquis because of LeBron (James). He’s done decent against him.”

Before Daniels tore ligaments in his left thumb, requiring surgery in December, he was indispensable off the pine. That was evident in the season opener in Cleveland six months ago when the subs saved the day, and Daniels led the way with a plus-11.

Now he’s hoping for a similar opportunity.

“He told me to be ready for it,” Daniels said of Rivers. “I’ve just been trying to stay upbeat and positive about whatever goes on, so whenever my name’s called or my number’s called, I’ll be ready.”

Being ready for LeBron James is a tenuous proposition at best.

“The guy can do a lot of good things,” Daniels said. “If he gets his jump shot going, he can drive and pass the ball extremely well. The best you can do is just try to make it uncomfortable for him.”

Link.

I expect that Doc will still stick with a shortened rotation.  Does this suggest that Tony may be the odd man out?  Or will both guys still get time?

This is just to force the Cavs to spend time preparing for Daniels, who won't even play IMHO.
Celtics fan for life.

What you quoted is from before the series even started. I just brought the thread back because its 5 games in, and Quis hasnt really played much. I don't think many people were sure what the wing rotation would be this series, but TA has played well so there hasnt really been a need for Marquis.

Deeper into the playoffs, we would need another backcourt player, to contribute more. Right now, we pretty much have the starters and Tony Allen.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

Coach:Rinus Michels

If he could get a few minutes per game if Pierce is struggling or TA is, it'd be a huge help in my opinion.

Meh...  even when PP has struggled in this series, he's generally been playing pretty good D on LeBron (at least as good as we could reasonably expect from Quis).  TA's been pretty consistently good on the defensive front as well.  Since Quis hasn't been giving us much of anything in terms of scoring or playmaking since...   well, since before he got hurt, I'd rather keep the rotation tight and have those minutes go to Pierce, TA, and Ray Allen.

Playoff basketball means that your eight best players get 98% of the playing time.  I don't see how Quis is anywhere close to being one of our eight best.

EDIT: I'd say, too, that Rondo's exceptional play (and huge minutes) is impacting Quis as well.  If Rondo's not playing as well and as much, maybe there's a need for another guy who can handle the ball.

As of right now, though, it's really a four-man guard rotation.  TA kinda fills in as the backup at all three spots.  Amazing to see how much TA's finally improving, particularly with respect to being able to contribute consistently.
