I love Felger.

And I don't see how he has been a hater with the Bruins.  He has been one of the more positive guys on the Bruins all season.  And he is absolutely right that Chirelli should be getting more grief than he is for not making some move at the deadline.  I don't think Chirelli believed in his team, and decided to sit it out, and now, if they had another above average forward, they would have a much better chance of going all the way to the cup.

As for the C's...well, he is not a basketball guy, and never has been.  He is a Bucks fan, but in general does not follow basketball.  If you are listening to him for basketball talk, then I think you really should look elsewhere.

Also, I cannot blame him for agreeing about Pierce and Garnett being "actresses".  It was a funny comment, and had a lot of truth behind it.  They both are over the top (just like Lebron).  But they are [dang] good basketball players.

I'm hot & cold on Felger.  I think he's pretty good on some topics; namely Patriots & Bruins while he stretches quite a bit on Sox and Celtics.  Sometimes, I really think he's just going for the whole contrarian angle no matter how ridiculous it is (see Skip Bayless) and that's pretty annoying.

He was absolutely trashing Boston College and their alumni recently after the Skinner firing and it was really just playing on the sterotypes that many people have of BC alums.  He's a BU grad so I can understand his hatred of BC but his generalizations of BC alums were pretty ridiculous and rubbed me the wrong way.  Guy was just using his pulpit to openly attack BC.  He wasn't even really addressing the Skinner thing, either.

I am very entertained by Felger in a Charles Barkley kind of way.  At least he's not a stiff like Tanguay.

Oh, I don't think he was playing up the BC hate.  I think he genuinely feels that way.  There is a lot of BC hate at BU and Northeastern, and his thoughts were directly in line with what I hear all the time.  As a NU graduate, I found it immensely entertaining.

I'm not gonna disagree on the level of BC hate in that city.  It certainly exists and there are some alums who actually live up to those stereotypes and that annoys the heck out of me.

Felger is a character playing his part and nothing else. Sometimes in his convictions he is right. In the case of Pierce faking injuries he is wrong and it is infuriating. A digruntled fan of another team can be angry about that but any sports analyst should be able to figure out that the guy is in serious pain when he goes down like that especially looking at his past. He rarely sits and has played hirt his whole career. What does he gain from pretending he is in pain? I just dont get his angle on this topic along with many of his angles. But hey, the fact that we are discussing this right now proves that his schtick works.

Exactly right, he plays up a character.

He provides a counter to the ball washing going on over at WEEI. Every town needs sportswriters who push the devil's advocate side of the equation.

I actually like felger and maz alot better than the big show ATM. I'd rather here felger go over the top negitive and maz bring him back to earth than the "every thing is great and every team is great!!!!" stichk the big show does.

Outside of dale and holly, which is an excellent show, i have little use for WEEI. oh, and planet mikey ain't bad.

Oh yeah, the stereotype absolutely has some basis in reality.  It by no means covers all BC alum (just like no sterotype covers everyone), but there are a LOT of BC alum (and students) who make it hard on those who are not DB's.

Basically, I think BC is the Duke of the north.  Good school.  Good sports program.  But way too many entitled kids who think they are "special".

But thats not to say that BU and NU don't produce their own DB's.  I think each school has their own breed, but they all are just as annoying.

You'd think Felger would read the blogs once-in-a-while, and get the intimation that the know-it-all, condescending attitude that he takes with everyone is going to eventually remove him from his position of (moderate) notoriety.

Man, the guy just gets worse and worse, and more and more difficult to watch and listen to. There have been very few sportscasters that have affected me as negatively as Felger ... even when there's a show I want to watch that he's on, I can't help but grab for the remote.  :P  ::)

Felger's a one-trick-jackass. If he's on Sports Tonight, I'm onto another channel.

Wow, there are people who still believe that talk shows on sports TV really reflect a difference of opinion.  :o
