I am a die hard celtics and NBA fan. The Celtics get most of there media coverage on csne. Unlike Nesn and WEEI who tend to only cover the red sox and patriots. Ever since the start of the celtics and bruins playoffs Micheal Felger has been nothing but a hater. At first i just ignored him but it seems he goes against the celtics and the NBA anychance he gets. For instance he agreed with Qrich's comments about pierce and garnett bein fakers and actresses. He said about the lebron elbow injury he must of gone to the paul pierce school of acting. Sure hockey players might be tougher buts it part of there job and you dont have to rub our face in it every chance he gets. I just dont understand how he is alomst on every show on that network which trys to promotes the celtics as much as possible and he just bashes them every chance he gets. If the network wants to do a better job promoting the celtics at least have someone who pretends or actually does think basketball is an actual sport.

He's an antagonist.  Every story needs one.  So do talk stations.

Felger is the worst ... he's a sports snob, the biggest know-it-all in the business, and so condescending to everyone he talks to, even if they're a supposed "guest" ... I can not stand the guy. (TP) (Tip: Try not to use all caps ... it's a CB rule, no biggie! ;))

Even though I may sound like I am trying to stand up for LeBron right here, but after hearing all the trash Felger is talking about LeBron not being tough, I'd like to see him say it to LeBron's face lol.

I agree with you completely.  I can't stand Felger and for that matter I can't stand CSNNE.  Their coverage of the Celts is putrid.  I never watch any of their coverage.  I don't know if it is just me, but when I'm watching the Celtics, I don't want to know what is going on with the Pat, Sox, Bruins or any other sport or team.  Not during halftime and not during game breaks.  I just can't stand that.

I kind of like Felger, he is an antagonist and I don't agree with him a lot but he is often entertaining and his show with Mazz is so much better than the big show. I do kind of agree with him on this Pierce is definitely one of the biggest actors in the NBA. Lebron is up there as well maybe worse but between the two of them its six of one half dozen of the other.

98.5 does try to push hockey way too much but I heard the other day that on Friday night with the draft, bruins, celts and sox all on the Bruins had the highest local rating and the Bruins game 6 got a 15 share which is huge so maybe there really is that much interest

Celtics got a 6, and Sox and NFL Draft both got 4's.

Oh and I think none of us are able to say that Pierce is an actress or not!  I've never had a stinger before, and I'm sure you or Felger never have OriginalODb, and when you and Felger get stabbed eleven times and come back and play in two weeks then you guys can talk.

Felger is a tool.  Unfortunately, tools get peoples attention.  The fact that we're discussing him right now is proof of that.

You know how you get attention as a local sports news guy?  Spout vitriol, spread unsubstantiated rumors, make wild predictions, and say things that run contrary to the general sentiment of the fans.  Shouting a lot can't hurt, either.  Felger, Shaughnessy, Tanguay...it's all the same.

p.s. he's especially annoying when he talks about BC...typical secretly-jealous BU hater.  :P

Felger is a character playing his part and nothing else. Sometimes in his convictions he is right. In the case of Pierce faking injuries he is wrong and it is infuriating. A digruntled fan of another team can be angry about that but any sports analyst should be able to figure out that the guy is in serious pain when he goes down like that especially looking at his past. He rarely sits and has played hirt his whole career. What does he gain from pretending he is in pain? I just dont get his angle on this topic along with many of his angles. But hey, the fact that we are discussing this right now proves that his schtick works.

We have a lot of posters here who do that angry fan thing and lose perspective and objectivity. Always annoying.

I didn't say pierce wasn't tough, obviously he is stronger mentally and physically than me or most every person on the planet but he does act like he got really hurt on fouls and try to milk calls more than most NBA players. I do give him credit he does not seem to flop a ton to try and draw charges, most of his "Acting" occurs on the offensive end trying to draw fouls.

For example, in game 5 he got fouled, fell, and clutched his knee and grimaced for more than a couple of seconds while on the ground only to get up and play the rest of the game limp free. I don't doubt that he felt pain in that situation but it seemed he tried to act more hurt than he was to try and get a flagrant called or something but if I remember correctly there was no way it was a flagrant. I wouldn't mind if he did it on fouls were a flagrant could be called but it seems like he is going down "the boy who cried wolf" route

I'm still a big Pierce fan but this is something he does that I don't care for

Also I don't have the will or tools to do this but I would love to see a breakdown of all of Pierces drives to the basket. I wonder what percentage end with a borderline foul not being called and Pierce throwing his hands in the air trying to get a call instead of trying to power thru and get the best shot he can, I would venture that happens more than him getting the call. I'm well aware that Pierce is far from the only player who does this but it still annoys me.

And on the subject of acting the Garnett/ Davis thing of instigating/retaliating contact after the whistle then throwing both hands up like they are completely without fault in the situation is very annoying. I'm sure that this is a league wide thing and many other players do it but I don't watch enough regular NBA to name other culprits.

Watching these things happen on a regular basis makes it seems pretty obvious to me that this team has its fair share of actors, none of the Vlade Divac scale but he is the King in that group

I hear ya but in a sense those posters can always be forgiven because they are just fans. This guy gets paid presumably alot of money to act like a turd on TV and on the radio. But I guess every sports show needs a guy like this to keep the debate flowing. Like I said, just a character.

Pierce does not get the superstar treatment when he drives hard to the basket and it undoubtedly frustrates him. He has said as much in various interviews. However in all of the cases of when he supposedly was faking injuries, there was not even any contact or a questionable foul. No one thought he got fouled when he got that shoulder stinger against Miami. He wasnt looking for a foul when he twisted his knee in the finals. I just dont get what you or Felger is trying to say when you say he is an actor.

As far as your point about him flailing his arms when he drives to the basket instead of trying to finish the play, I guess I just dont see that. When he is hampered by injury, he just does not have the lift to finish plays around the basket. Whenever the guy is healthy (like now) he takes it strong and never pulls any Reggie Miller or Manu Ginobili antics. Just my opinion I guess.

You are fighting the good fight and have logic on your side but, you appear to be wasting your time.  Paul Pierce is an actor to this Celtic fan and he won't be proven otherwise.
