My fault. I didn't explain well enough. I meant that if the C's lose in round two (effectively closing our title window), do you really want to re-up a 35 year old shooting guard or do you want to look to S&T him, or let him walk to get started on the next championship? I'd choose the latter options, I think.

I think Danny would look to get him on contract for the next couple of years.  There won't be any better options for the kind of money we can pay him, and given that this season hasn't been an abject failure (since we at least made the second round) I'd say Danny isn't going to give up completely on the core we have, though I don't expect him to spend a ton of money to add complementary players, either.

Yeah, you might be right. But a S&T for a younger asset wouldn't surprise me at all.

If he can swing one...he didn't seem to have much success trying to do that sort of thing before the deadline this year, and that's when Ray was a massive expiring contract.

Cavs in three. It's in the best interest of the C's Heat to forfeit the fourth game.

Fixed ;D Remember the C’s were absolutely going to lose in the 1st round and since we haven’t heard from him since the series ended I’ll assume he’s still in the alternate universe where we had no chance against the Heat. But yeah Cavs in 2 or 3 sounds about right.

On his podcast today, he admitted his first round picks were "terrible" and noted his Heat pick as one of his bad ones.

Didn't once praise the Celtics for their current play, though.  Just said something to the effect of "who knew Quentin Richardson would spark this team."  He and Stein agreed the Heat were a "shell of a team" - though only a couple weeks ago they thought they were good enough to beat the C's easily.

Well - the Heat are a shell of a team.

I think it was silly to pick Miami to win but few C's teams of the last twenty years have been as disillusioning as this group.

Yea, and I'm annoyed that he keeps saying that because the team snapped into postseason form the quarter before that.

And I still have a problem with him after the podcast. He picked his own team to lose(where even the guys here most down on their hopes for this team expected a fairly easy win) and then spent 20 seconds of an hour podcast and basically gave it 2 lines about how "his first round picks were bad." Sorry Bill, but we need more than that.

My point is he was so quick to point out how Miami was worse than he thought but didn't spend any time at all discussing how the Celtics are clearly so much better than he thought.  That's not how a real Celtics fan would spin that story.

Instead, he's just excited about the fact that he picked Dwyane Wade to be the highest scoring player in the first round.

I just can no longer bring myself to even care what Simmons has to say about anything ... especially if it has to do with the Celtics. Sorry, but in my very humble opinion he left the realm of integrity and substantive reporting long ago. To each his own, I guess.

Yeah. He is an opinionated entertainer.

This is sports. Even without the elements of chance that are involved, we can't 'know' the future. Anyone who acts sure of their predictions is a bit of a clown and delusional.

I predict that the Golden State Warriors won´t win the title next year.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Both that and the fact that he's nothing but, a blogger with a very limited view of the game.  Hopefully more Celtic fans start to realize his main goal is pageviews.

Well that's a bit extreme and something that would go over well in a Simmons' blog ironically.

Get this poster an ESPN column.

Naah, that would ruin my credibility.

Anybody read Simmons' latest column?  He actually gives Ray Allen some credit...but, of course, just spends the time gushing about how exciting it would be if he played for some other team next year.

He mentioned that thanks to Q-Rich he nows "likes watching his team again" and that because of LeBron's elbow the "once dead 2009-2010 Celtics have a small chance."

Still no credit to KG for playing real well and looking healthy, no nods to TA or Glen Davis for breaking out in the playoffs, no kudos to Paul Pierce for a killer game winner at the buzzer.  Oh, and an absolute cream-in-the-pants rant about Dwyane Wade's Game 4 performance.  So, basically, more of the same from Bill.
