One thing I know: Just about now we're set up pretty well for a miracle. If the Celts pull it off it will be a much bigger surprise than when they won it all 2 years ago (I believed all that year they would win it....not even surprised that year....just a thrill)...
This year it would be a miracle and a thrill, as if God were green...
If the Celtics somehow went on a magical run to the title from here...well, it would blow me away and make my year. It would also pretty much invalidate any idea that the regular season matters at all.
Not really, 50 wins isn't exactly a bad season. Especially when you've faced serious injuries.
Yeah, but it would mean you could play .500 ball for the majority of the season and still have the chance to win a championship. Why try to win as many games as you can if you can win a title after playing like an average team for most of the year?
p.s. how many wins did the Spurs have when they won their titles? I know Popovich is notorious for taking it easy in the regular season
On the other hand, everyone has roster changes. The best teams in the league are more likely to get the most wins.
I think it is silly to say with confidence that any team can win easily when we see far superior teams going 7 against far superior teams in the first round all the time. And if you go 7, both teams have a chance in that seventh game.
I consider the Cavs a better team. Probably considerably better. But we have enough talent to win four games if things work out right. It will be tough since we have no one who is consistently of Lebron's caliber at the end of games (unlike the Pierce we had in 2008).
